Teacher! Teacher! You forgot to assign us homework!
Nintendo Switch Sports is the headliner this week, which really should have been the headliner last week, but, well, I missed it because the name and cover-art are painfully generic! This is either a remake, or sequel, or however you want to classify it, to everybodys grandmas favorite video game; Wii Sports! But now it's got a less distinctive art style as there are no Miis in the game and also it's got MORE games! And also the existing games are technically improved. But bowling is still present, and BY GUM, that's the important one.
The others are nice, but, y'know... priorities.
Wildcat Gun Machine is a twin sticky shoot-shoot game that looks much like Enter the Gungeon, except with fewer pixels and also the monsters are all goopy goo-skelly guys instead of cute little anthropomorphic bullets. So there you have it!
Citizen Sleeper is a tough to describe game, but real neat 'un. It's a half text adventure and half survive on a wildly unsafe space station game, but your likelihood to do all that is entirely dependent on dice rolls AND ALSO you're a robit just trying to make it work in this crazy ol' future world full of corporations and shaky back-alley dealings. It's got Narrative-Heavy Tabletop Board Game pouring out of every vein, and it's from the peeps as what made In Other Waters (which was Subnautica, but without graphics), so they've got a good handle on marrying weird high concept sci-fi adventures to video games.
And speaking of unconventional board-style video games, we have Wingspan: European Expansion (which is a bundle, admittedly, but still), which is a deck-buildy birds-em-up where you must use RANDOM CHANCE as prescribed by playing cards in order to create maintain and expand a nascent BIRD EMPIRE. Or... like... zoo, I guess. However you want to classify Bird Dominion. It's really hard to parse what's going on in a single screenshot without foreknowledge of the game, but one card reads "lay one egg on any bird" in a screenshot, so there you go.
Rifftrax: The Game is a party game that kind of any number of Jackbox party games where you write a funny joke and everyone votes on which funny joke is most chuckle-worthy, but with old clips from bad movies. Or if you're bad at making your own jokes, you can just use the clips from Rifftrax commentaries and use other peoples. I guess you can also use this to edit Mike Nelson out of extant episodes, so... that might be worth looking into.
That's what Tuesday Morning Octo knows about!
