I do wonder how many people of Italian descent are offended by Martinet Mario. I'd imagine it's a non-zero number, but I wouldn't be surprised if most are just like "Yeah, its-a him. It's Mario."

Though I can see the point where the response might be different towards a 90 minute movie as opposed to a few voice clips in Mario Kart.

Great, proactive Peach, a ton of references, I love this trailer. Can't wait to watch this, now I'm pumped.

Lots of great visuals in this trailer (can't wait for those freeze-frame analysis style Youtube videos to look at that last scene), and Pratt gets a 'Most Improved' sticker for what we've seen here compared to the first one.

Still not feeling him as their choice, but it's better now.

Luigi and Peach are good, disappointed we saw DK but didn't hear his performance.

Jack Black still makes a dang good Bowser.

Granted, Marios voice doesn't quite work for me. But it is good enough that it isn't a problem, especially considering how much I love and heard everything else I saw.

Yeah, I'm all in on this. Kudos to whoever put these two trailers together, as they've taken me from "speak not its name in my presence" to most likely being in a theater seat on opening night.

They should have known better than to include the line "BOWSER IS COMING" in the trailer, where anyone could clip it out.

I would probably watch this, and I don't watch too many movies in theaters. I'm digging the self-aware jokes, like Luigi insisting that he couldn't possibly know EVERY other person who wears colorful overalls and a hat embroidered with his first initial. Plus it's colorful, which a Mario movie should be (and the Hollywood Pictures film from the 1990s very much wasn't).

I’m not really a fan of Peach’s Disney-fied design but I’m glad it looks like she’ll get a lot to do.

Donkey Kong’s Rare/DK ‘94 amalgam design is amazing, though.

I like the art direction!

The music in this trailer is… not good. I didn’t like it initially and I like it less on each rewatch.

My son, who is eight and a big fan of the Mario games, said of this trailer: “Mario looks and sounds stupid”.

Trailer music is usually composed by the same company that makes the trailer, and is if anything even more formulaic than the editing of the trailer itself. It's rare for it to involve any music from the film's actual score, except when it's a sequel to a movie that had memorable music in it. I wouldn't take it as representative.

This trailer un-sold me on Pratt being an acceptable Mario so I don't know what you who feel the opposite heard.

I'm a curmudgeon and this looks kinda not great, but I'm sure it'll be acceptable popcorn faire and I'm glad a lotta people seem to be happy with what's going on here.

I’ll watch it when it’s streaming but am not hopeful it will be anything other than fine. In my heart of hearts I’m praying there’s someone at Illumination pushing for a Luigi’s Mansion movie. That would certainly justify the whole endeavor.

Personally, I'm just waiting for insulation of time and wealth to inevitably do what it does to all celebrities, to Chris Pratt. And when he finally becomes irredeemably out of touch with reality, I'll be waiting with baited breath and popcorn in hand to observe Nintendo and others try to pretend they were never associated with him. Where do y'all think the over-or-under is for him saying something impossible to ignore about the Jews or something like that? 2 years? 4?

Chris Pratt is already preeeeeeetty deep in the paint on some unsavory shit so I can't imagine he'll go very long at this point without donning a DeSantis 2024 hat or something.

Charlie Day's performance makes me wish they had just chosen the whole cast of Sunny for the main characters. Glenn as Mario, Caitlin as Peach, Danny as Bowser and Rob as, uh, Toad I guess.

Nah, if I had to make this decision I'd have DeVito be Donkey Kong and keep Jack Black as Bowser. Mary Elizabeth Ellis would be required to put in a cameo as Daisy.

I think the positive trailer reaction is mostly due to low expectations. I agree that it looks pretty good though, and I'll watch it when it comes to Netflix or wherever. A movie that looks fine is way better than one that looks awful.

And yeah, I'd be very happy if videogame DK gets a similar redesign. The rest of the movie characters can stay in the movie though.

I'm in the "looks fine, will probably watch on streaming" camp. It'll probably be a decently fun way to whittle away 100 minutes.

can't wait for us to find out in three months that the film's runtime is 180 minutes

Personally, I'm reserving judgment on this film until we hear Sebastian Maniscalco's Foreman Spike in action.

His voice doesn't bother me. Seeing stuff like Toads being Toads, Peach being cool, there being actual platforming stuff and the Mario Kart reference at the end simply sold me on it.

I'm not expecting an amazing movie. I expect something light and fun, with cute, colorful graphics that make me feel like I'm in the Mushroom Kingdom for 90 minutes. I want to have the same fun I had with the Sonic movie (yes, I enjoyed that one in the same way). And this one has the advantage of being in a place that's actually fun to look at. Like, this feels like it's the movie I would have wanted to see as a six-year old. If it brings me a bit of that joy, I'll be wholly satisfied.

Halberd Peach in her motorcycle outfit and she seems more capable than Mario? Very yes.

HAL-BERD-PEACH! HAL-BERD-PEACH!

As game concepts go, I would be a lot more excited about “Peach has a polearm that does 1d10 damage” than “Peach has emotions.”
