That's one villain that's disposed of about as easily as emptying the trash on your computer.

I didn't mention it, but you kill Dracan by... USEing him on the HOLE.
Which makes the confrontation against him actually more pitifully hilarious. |

I almost asked about that. It's one of those things that you kind of want to know, but at the same time you kinda don't.

Yeah, I spent the whole sequence leading up to that wondering what obscure item you were going to need from your inventory in order to defeat Dracan in some convoluted way. Well then. Man, more corrupted evil magicians should come with handy bottomless pits right nearby, it would make adventuring a lot easier.

As any accomplished horror author can tell you, one of the keys to genuinely creepy writing is cramming as many exclamation marks as you can into every single sentence.

The appearance of the rare bang-bang-dot is remarkable, too.
Shadowgate had lots of double exclamation points, too. I wonder if they just designed it into their font. |

Doesn't seem like every single thing in the game was that surprising. |

Deja Vu as well. They should've had single exclamation points in the first game, double in the second, triple in the third... Then you'd know what order to play them in. Maybe. |

This was very well done although you left out one of my favorite puns in the game (right):

Actually, the NES Uninvited is a localized port of a Japanese port of the MacVenture Uninvited, by the name "Akuma no Shoutaijou" if I have it right. This LP kinda has me interested in playing through it in English and Japanese, if just to see the differences. |

I like that if you follow their advice and save whenever you gain a new item, then you will almost surely never be able to finish the game.

Yeah, that's definitely it. That friggin' guy holding his severed head was why I never wanted to rent Uninvited. My younger self was too naive to realize Nintendo of America (mostly) sanitized games back then until Mortal Kombat, or that those shots were just cropped pics of the Japanese adaptation.* Speaking of which, I'm sure that's why the brother in the computer versions was turned into a sister in the NES game. Oh, Japan. =P
*I played up to that point via Famicom ROM once; decapighost's definitely in the J-version. So are pentagrams. And on a less friendly note, text you can't speed up. Quote:

Double post, but using Prime's LP to help me play through it, I've gotten shots of Akuma no Shoutaijou's differences from Uninvited. Or rather more likely, the stuff that was the same in the computer versions. I'd assume Red Hedgehog knows better than me. Here we go!
Most of the edits are to pentagrams and religious stuff, really. The only graphic visual content that got edited was the decapitated peasant and the zombie's hanging eyeball.....and I guess the stone crucified Jesus too, if you wanna go there. There is an item the NES version doesn't have in the fifth row, though! It's probably some kinda booze or wine, and guessing by its omission instead of renaming/editing it (and that I never had to use it), it's probably just another useless crap item like so many others. The master's bedroom also has some additional masks that were turned into pictures for some reason. There's also some color palette differences in some places, but they're mostly insignificant. Wow, cool stuff. Thanks for taking the time to point out the differences, Metal Man Master. Fascinating!

Less was altered then I expected.
And the masks being changed is just peculiar. |

Yeah, I was surprised that most of the edits were relatively minor. While it spooked me at first, that hanging eyeball zombie looks even goofier than its sanitized eye missing equivalent when out of the context of the "getting killed" music. I blame the putrepups and stenchurions from the Dragon Quest series for this. =P
A few interesting changes, but nowhere near as interesting as some of the stuff I found with Princess Tomato. |

Is it just me or does the zombie look like it's wearing a partial skull mask instead of having a receding flesh line?
