Aw, you didn't reunite with Maggie, she was right around the corner.
I'm afraid some of the image links in that update got a little scrambled though. Captures her personality really well too! |

Finding Brink
When last we left Low he was talking to Boston right as some sort of alien attacked her. He isn't taking it well:
Low is mostly alone on this planet except for creepy Brink. But, since that's all we got that's what we'll try: Like everything else Low tries it doesn't work. I guess we have to find Brink in person. Which means I spent lots of time just wander around the five different spires trying to locate Brink. I eventually find him Welcoming as always. By science Brink means horde green crystals and obsess about living forever. Whatever he is doing it can't be good. But how to get him away? Appealing to his better nature won't work. |

Recruiting Brink
Despite that Low keeps trying:
That seems healthy... Low tries to get Brink's stash of gems: Words aren't working and Brink won't let me take his stash. What do? How about recruit space bats! "Brink! You left your stash! Don't worry, I'll get it for you!" Rude. |

Blackmailing Brink
I prefer "crafty manipulator." Well, we got Brink to come along. But where to? Next time! |

Brink just wants to be left alone with his life crystals! Is that too much to ask?

Jfc Brink, you're trapped on an alien planet, how is this wonderful technology supposed to help anyone if you don't work together to get back home? But I guess reason doesn't apply to alien crystal meth addicts

I think by this point he clearly doesn't give a damn about Earth, the only one he'll help is himself to some more delicious life crystals.

I can't think of any way that withholding life crystals from an addict who no longer thinks that death is consequential could go wrong!

I mean he needs them to be resurrected. And Low's got all of them.

My point is that he is unusually motivated to just murder Low's dumb ass, take that shit, and then resurrect him with them. He'd see it as doing him a favour.

Low is a career military man and Brink is a geologist with no obvious weapons. He's gotta wait for the right opportunity!

Saving Robbins
Alright! Quick catch up before we dive in. Robbins was attacked by a spider. Low wants to save her. Brink is insane and only agreed to help save Robbins after Low stole all his life crystals. Good? Good!
With Brink in tow Low heads out to save Robbins! Who was last seen at the Map Spire There she is! Doesn't look too comfortable. If you are looking for the thing that 'got' her, it's that lump in the bottom-left of the screen. It is really hard to see and I wouldn't have ever noticed it if the mouse cursor didn't change when you move across it. Excellent point Brink. So glad we brought you along. But how to save her? Let's ask the smart guy! Stop it Low! Brink already has a big enough head! Huh? Whatever it is that Brink said to the space spider it seems to have worked. |

Waterworks!
Either space spiders don't like flashlights or they get real angry over vocabulary!
Right! Time to save Robbins, Low! Uh, Low? Where you going? I just want you to know that I didn't make Boston leave Robbins. The game automatically has him walk into that back cave after Brink yells at him. Despite his crew being in dire straits Low has decided to look more closely at this alien planet's hydrodynamics. Happy with the changes he's made he heads back to Robbins and Brink There is that... |

Flood Control
Just give Boston some time to explain his overly intricate scheme! (That's how you know it'll work!)
I'm sure you'll figure something out. That space spider must hate the dictionary! |

Saved
Thanks to who though? I don't want to give Boston any credit for that. Oh, yeah, that. Well, how about we talk about it Brink? Ludgar Brink, Scientist of Action! And we'll never be able to find out. They're all dead or screaming ghosts. Game over, right? Find out next time! |

Undecipherable
Next time comes sooner than expected! Robbins has been saved. Brink has become violent. Low remains unflappable. With Robbins in the party, we can finally read alien text and perhaps talk to aliens?
First, I give her this tablet we found earlier Robbins is a lot less helpful than I had hoped... We go deeper into the map spire. Which leads us to the waterfront. And some sort of device. That all sounds vaguely familiar... *wink, wink* Context is everything apparently. |

|
|||
|
|||
Decipherable
Now that we're here instead of being a couple hundred yards away Robbins understands completely
Well, just hurry up. For all we know this island will disappear any minute. I think the only reason the last metal plate is here is to gate off this content until after the player has collected the other three plates and triggered Robbins being kidnapped. That way you can't get all four plates and activate the endgame before Brink goes insane and such. Geez Boston... We get it. Brink is dangerous. But it's not like he can kill us. This isn't a Sierra game! |

Handy
With the final plate in his possession, Boston and Maggie head back towards the entrance to the spire. On the way back there is an earthquake. I thought he said that if he saw either of us again he'd kill us? Now he needs our help? This guy... Guess I'll be visiting all the spires seeing as I have no idea where that is... (It's the planetarium spire) Why are we helping him again? So he can assault us again? And just around the corner to the right we find: It's Brink! Sticking his hand in places it doesn't belong. I don't know about you but I'm enjoying this. Find out what happens next time! Same Dig Place, Same Dig Time (in a couple months or so...) |

Maggie's first comment about Brink's violent outburst is "he sure is weird"? Not "he's an insane traitor and we should probably incapacitate or kill him before he sabotages any chance we might still have of returning home"?
The dialog in this game sure is something. |

Everyone (except Brink once addicted) is so chill in this game... always with the witty remark at hand.
But hey, they did say at the beginning that they had selected the best of the best. XD |

Between a Rock and a... Rock.
When we left our story Brink was stuck:
Satisfyingly so. Five minutes before this we was threatening to kill us if we bothered him now he can't stop asking for help! Low is smarter than I've been giving him credit for! Alright! Let's chop some hands off! Do you have a better idea Robbins? Going to take his hand out of there? Brink doesn't need Low or Robbins if he's just going to chew his hand off. Well, I've got this old jaw! |
#116
|
|||
|
|||
Chop Chop
Sadly, I didn't find any bones lying around might numb the pain.
Yup, we just sawed a man's hand off with a jawbone and he's treating it by mashing a life crystal against it. And what are you even doing with all these crystals? I don't really have any choice, do I? |

Going Home?
With Brink and Robbins in tow Low walks back to the nexus, past all the other doors and the cave in. Much like we did in the very beginning of the game, we arrange the panels into a triangle. ALL you think about is life crystals Brink... I wish I could leave you alone forever. |
