The lparchive LP is kind of upsetting for me to read, although I understand it's the more standard game experience. Gaining five levels before every boss is neither fun nor necessary.

Lemele is one hundred years young as of the start of the game. There is probably some chicanery involving time-traveling childbirth at work here. Also, who is the mother? This is real immaculate conception.

Great work, dude! It was fun reading along. Don't think I'll ever play it again myself, but I enjoyed the vicarious victory.

LASER HUGS for everyone!

I think it's kind of hilarious that you kept getting annihilated by random encounters there at the end, but the boss-fights were still perfectly doable. I guess the back of the box wasn't kidding after all!

I haven't, but I have found a couple of raw Japanese monster charts, which someone might be able to use. I will say that Griffin was シージリア (Shījiria) and Griffan was カシアン (Kashian). I have no idea what those mean, but the former MIGHT be meant to be cecaelia, which would explain its appearance.

Hooray! I enjoyed reading this LP much more than I would have enjoyed playing this game, I imagine.

This LP was far, far better than the LParchive one. I learned all sorts of neat things about the game and how to play it effectively from you. (It was kinda nice to get a reminder that this game doesn't quite deserve the hate it gets.)

I had an idea years ago for a remake that would never happen, where the apprentices get more differences in their storylines and the New Game Plus mode locks you out of using whatever partner you had in the previous run-throughs--because in a previous time-loop, they get trapped in the past. Then, when you reach the past, you can recruit that partner and come up with an alternate way for your three-person party to beat Gorsia without using the runes, thereby breaking the time-loop.

This LP was easily and undeniably absolutely amazing.

There were some legendary quotes from onlookers as well as in game. (I'm looking at you GRRR!)

My only hope was to continue to see your peril in dying over and over again and keeping up Tally.
From experience, this game was infuriating to me as a kid. So much grind, so much sense not made. I thought it was pretty confusing on where to go sometimes as well.

Talking Time, you've done it again as far as LPs go.
Hope to see more from you, I dare say you should play Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.

Meanwhile, I'm mystified (npi) as to what the connection could possibly be between 7th Saga and Mystic Quest. They are almost polar opposites.

Very little, as it turns out. There's a Tejin named Lux and that's about it.

Edit: And crystal ball enemy radar. BUT THAT'S IT.

I played them both in succession as a child. The ease of MQ was like a mid summers breeze on my fire charred and beaten body after 7th Saga brutally incinerated my jimmies with plot devices such as "you cannot use magic." and MUTANTS.

Overall, I think I just liked your LP style.

A Mystic Ark LP would be fascinating. I love reading about those "lost" SNES games, especially the ones I missed during my "emulate everything" phase.

The recent GSJ article made it sound flawed but interesting. I don't know how well the game would translate into an LP though.

I haven't played it, actually! That's probably surprising, given my love for this game, but the last time I tried it was before the translation patch, which made it a (more) frustrating experience.

I could see doing a blind LP of it someday, but probably not soon.

I've played it, and if I had the option, I'd rather you played it and then came back and did a non-blind LP in [some amount of necessary time]. Because I only got through it with excessive grinding, and I suspect I was doin' it rong. Given your ability to beat 7th Saga at a low level with limited grinding via knowing the game really well, I suspect you'd be able to show me what I missed.

I found it, incidentally, to be a very intriguing game that ultimately lacked the depth it promised, and tried too hard to be everything to everyone.

I kind of think I might like to LP FFMQ with one or both of a zero-exp or min-equips run. (I finally found a PAR code for zero-exp; for my future reference and anyone curious, it's 7E04A000 + 7E04A100.) Low equipment is interesting because by the end of the game, your equipment basically provides 100% status resistance and 50% elemental resistance. Skipping equipment means you're vulnerable to special attacks.

If you wanted to make a min-equip run harder, you could also use the resistance glitch to remove resists from the ally (you would end up having to use savestates though).

So a crazy idea crossed my mind today. I'm not committing to anything, but if I ran it, would there be interest in watching me stream 7th Saga (either live or after the fact)? And if you would be interested, who would you like to see for a main character? I'm going to preemptively veto Lux (who is featured in this LP) and Kamil (who is more or less a strictly worse Olvan). I won't veto Lejes, but I kind of want to because he sucks at recruiting.

AGAIN: not saying this is for sure gonna happen. It's just that sometimes a guy wants to play some 7th Saga, you know?* And if I'm gonna do it, maybe you want to see it done.

I'm going to vote for Esuna. But first I'm going to go around the neighborhood setting up confusing campaign signs that just say "Let's get Busy!"

I doubt I can catch live streams very often, but I'd watch some video LPs for sure.

Esuna or Busy.

Yeah... that's a bit of a stretch.

I can tell you right now that if I run Esuna or probably Lejes, my strategy for Romus is going to be to die and take the whistle. Everyone else has some kind of recourse to stay alive at low levels, and I refuse to grind out experience pre-Earth Cave.

Kids don't want me to wear armor. I understand how it is.
