Yep. the Nu's evolution tree is the MP-Nu (with incoms, not funnels, sadly), the Sazabi, the HWNu variant (which evolves to Mafty's Gundam) and the Hi-Nu. The MP-Nu evolves into all the different Zeta variants (which all suck horribly, even the Unicorn specific ones), and you can get the S-Gundam through the ZPlus evolution.

I've mentioned that I really don't like using Newtype weapons, but if folks want to see them, I have a pilot and build lined up for that.

And yes, Qan[T] is ridiculous. And it has a much better Lock On then any of the Satellite System units.

I stand by my previous statement.

Gratuitous funnels (sorry "fangs"), a sword/shield thingy and magic powers. The Quanta is everything that's wrong about Gundam 00.

I find it interesting that you say that. Besides the fact that GN Particles are straight up Minovsky Particles, the tech in 00 is actually based on modern theoretical sciences. And even with that, GN Drives are actually using real physics; it's just more that they are starting with a nonsense element.

00 and Qan[T]'s teleportation, for example, is quantum teleportation (which is also where Qan[T] got it's name from). Quantum brainwaves are simple psychics, and don't even have as much power as they do in UC (though that may likely be for the same reasons as Newtypes in SEED). And weapons in the series are just your typical beam weapons, slug-throwers, or solid blades. Even Raiser Sword, as awesome as it was, makes more sense then some OTHER Gundam super-weapons.

The fact that 00 actually bases itself in theoretical science instead of just literally making shit up is one of the things I like about the series. Another is that it's just straight-up one of the best made Gundam series period. I haven't enjoyed a Gundam series as much as I enjoy 00 since X.

What's that about Newtypes in SEED? I thought they didn't exist.

No, there are Newtypes in SEED. Mwu, Rau, and Kira have shown the trademark NT "flash", and have been stated to be such by the director, among others.

It's just not as well known because NT is still NEW to the CE universe. While there's folks with the power, nothing makes use of it (directly).

Oh, right. Since I started replaying SRW Z2 (again), I am reminded that the codenames for the Wing Gundams were also numbers; Gundam 1 having been Wing Gundam. So in this crazy mixed up world, was Sergei looking for Exia, 0 Gundam, Wing, or RX-78?!

Or the GP01? Or Unit 1 of the three Titans Gundam Mk. IIs?

Yeah, but by Season 2 GN Particles also had the magical power to evolve people or heal people ;P

00 was fine for what it was, but its notion of geopolitics beyond S1 was nonsensical, and both the villains and the protagonists were rather one-dimensional and uninteresting. Setsuna was such a one-note character that he seriously had like two lines ("There is no god" and "I am Gundam"). He didn't change a whit until what... end of Season 2? And even then it was like a shrug of the shoulders.

For a supposed magnificent bastard, Ribbons was a fricking moron who had to resort to dragging out his own super powered mobile suit to face the 00 Raiser.

The S1 supporting cast was extremely strong, but they were generally derailed in S2. Let's see, Sergei was alright, but his thoroughly unlikable son ends up killing him.

Louise becomes a cyber-newtype of sorts, which is cool I guess given that they spent a lot of time setting it up in S1.

Her ex-boyfriend turned pilot whatisname... he was the Katz of 00 for me.

Marie ends up being Allelujah's quiet Japanese girlfriend after being rescued, and neither do anything of substance in the story (in the show's best battle, Allelujah's job was literally to push the Ptolemaius).

Ali-Al goes from an invicincible psychotic bastard ala Yazan who once tormented Setsuna to... what? I don't even know.

The less said about Mr. Bushido, the better.

I'm not going to call 00 "bad," but it did progressively worse following an incredibly promising start. By the end, it's not much more than a Naruto-powered toy commercial.

Oh, and the movie was the worst thing to ever happen to Gundam. Ever.

Taken as a whole, I think it's better than SEED, but that's only because SEED Destiny was just that bad. Otherwise, I'm just glad I have Unicorn.

And so we come back full circle.

Now, I agree with nearly everything you say, but let's not jump to conclusions about worst thing to happen just yet.

But that was so bad that not even Namco Bandai acknowledges it anymore.

I dunno. It's pretty hard to top Destiny's second half for the worst (never seen G-Savior myself). On paper the initial plot for Destiny was pretty cool--develop and mature Athrun in the same way that they did Kira in SEED by contrasting him with Shinn and then the second half happens. Then you throw in the ridiculous tech curve and the later MSs and turning Kira into an instant win button and the entire thing just goes to pot.

Awakening of the Trailblazer ended with the alien space crystal turning into a giant space flower upon which humanity founded the perfect space colony of happiness. Yeah. I'll take SEED Destiny any day of the week

Not...exactly? Some of the supplemental manga/novel material set afterwards teases some kind of oldtype/Newtype conflict.

Supplemental material cannot be considered canonical, or UC becomes the most ridiculously terrible of all Gundams.

Namco Bandai seems to consider the games like Lost War Chronicles and Gundam Senki canonical. All seven of the RX-78 variants are in this game (shame the RX-78-7 sucks)

Why is that peculiar? Judau Ashita is the worst Gundam protagonist ever.

Judau Ashta, on the other hand, is both a kid who kept messing up with everyone's plans and got to see his share of 'war ruins everyone we care and don't care about', and apparently a guy who can fight off the Zanscare Empire in a crappy mech.

It's more confusing that there's so much of it relative to other protagonists. He even stars in the Ideon / Gundam crossover manga.

I will agree that was one of the stupider retcons in Destiny, but still you can't argue with more Mwu.

Yeah, and I'm willing to simply outright ignore most of the stupid in Destiny, as the production was interrupted by a big earthquake. Nothing like the recent one of course, but still pretty bad.

Mwu and Andrew Waltfield were the best part of SEED. Shame they couldn't stay dead.

My problem with Judau was that he was an unabashed Mary Sue. Amazing pilot with super Newtype powers; and oh, he stole the heart of the untouchable Haman Karn as well. Eesh.
