Oh Falselogic! there aren't any fun, compelling, inventive games anymore! It's all shoot this or dungeon that! Everything is always grey or brown!
Wrong. You are wrong. What you need is Dave the Diver. Why is that? Well, where to start? Let's marry a random generated seascape where you must manage air resources, weight limits, and harvesting of resources with the management of a sushi bar that is dependent upon those resources. But, if that gets too rote for you than let's add in the development of new tools to allow you to better harvest resources and explore more of the seascape. Oh, you've got that covered now as well? Fine! Now you manage fish farm. Perfect? Well, there is more as you've now got a rice paddy, crop fields, and a seaweed farm to manage as well.
You can also upgrade your weapons with attributes to making capturing prey easier, because yes, fresh fish matter! Oh, and there's a bit of a collect them all aspect to all those fish and sharks and squids you'll find. Oh, this perfect loop of kitting out, harvesting, planning, and then executing the perfect dinner night is getting a little dull? Good thing these are interspersed with gameplay innovations, one-offs, and boss fights. So far, I've done a a couple of stealth missions, there was a boat race, as well as chase sequence.
Every time there is the hint that things might be getting too rote the designers introduce another little twist, another mechanic, or an expansion on an existing one. When the gameplay gets a bit repetitive they mix it up with a mission that involves something else or plays completely differently. The end result is that when I sit down to play this game the hours just disappear.
Oh and then there are all the over the top animeish cutscenes. Can't forget those! Please play this game! I do not think you will regret it.
