Still chugging away, though I think I'm pretty close to the end. I'm in chapter 13. I've just realized how much the characters have grown on me.

My level is mid-upper 50s right now. What is the average level for finishing the game?

I think I was in my 70s...maybe low 80s when I did...and made the final boss a joke, lol. Granted I got super into the game in the end so I got all of Colony 6, most all of the sidequests, and explored like everywhere, so my experience may be a little elevated lol.

I did most of the optional stuff and was at, let's see, level 95 and 96.

You will need to get to party to at least the high 70s to complete the game, ideally past 80.

I just beat this finally! I have tried playing this game multiple times, would always stall out at the Marsh. But the Switch version I beat! I was in the late 70s/early 80s when I finished.

That said, I am finding myself stalling out in the Extra Story. Is it worth powering through?

The extra story is fine, and it's pretty short- I did just about every quest and it took about 15 hours. That said, it's not particularly essential or great, so I wouldn't say you're really missing out if you skip it.

I might need to look at my file again because I might have forgotten what levels I stopped at lol

ahahaha, yep

I actually got really lucky with them in the last playthrough, found 2 of them very quickly. But my earlier playthroughs required a lot of grinding for them. Not fun at all.

I think I got lucky with those. I saw how rare they were and said fuck it and time attacked what I needed to buy them. There's a couple shitty rare item hunts in the game that the new mode definitely helps if you don't mind grinding for noponstones.

I looked up prostratz and found that the easiest was savescumming at the lake beneath Three Sage Summit. This involved a) Getting to Three Sage Summit, which is frustrating in its own right and b) savescumming which, with as long as it takes to get from the Switch menu back into your game, ads on a lot of waiting around.

It didn't take as long as I feared, but it still sucked.

There's a definite zen to sidequesting in this game. For the most part you don't even have to fully pay attention. It's pretty great.

In the Factory and I love how everything from Mechonis Field on has final dungeon music so that if you're not checking the interwebs you might think this is actually The End.

I'm at 65 and Reyn already has 9999 HP and I've got at least 10 levels and 3 chapters to go before I'm ready for the endgame JFC this game is insane.

yea it's a great part of the game. the passive accumulation of items with the conversation web makes the brunt of focus on sidequests be the relationships that develop between the parties, rather than the actual gathering of widgets and doodads.

I think Mechonis Field might be my favorite music track. The peacefulness of Colony 9 is a close second.

I'm in the mid 50s for levels and just took a big fall. I think this might be a good place to take a little break because I'm feeling a little weary.

Doing some Colony 6 stuff before I head into Mechonis Core, and it's eerie how you can look up from Fallen Arm and see the Mechonis moving. The attention to deyail in this game's world is impressive

So I got to the end of Chapter 15, which I assume everyone's been waiting for.

Dickson's betrayal was not too surprising. It was telegraphed pretty well. It also sucks though, because I really liked him.

Oh yeah, the beginning of Chapter 16 is the batshit Xeno game nonsense I've been looking for. Inject this into my veins!

Congrats!

Did you do the new Future Connected part?

I'll wait to try it out until after I finish the main game again.

Congrats! I was very happy to replay XB1 again too and push to the end; it gets really compelling in the last few hours. I haven't dove into Future Connected yet either; after 100+ hours I needed a break lol

So I’ve been quietly playing this since around Christmas time, and I think I’m going to beat it this time (At Mechonis Field, I tired out around Valak mountain last time...). Seems I’m moving a lot quicker this time, as I think I got this far in less time it took me to get where I stopped. I think this is a combination of the game making it easier to find items in side quests, meaning less time wondering around looking for shit, and that I’ve been using Dunban instead of keeping Reyn in the party (good offense is better than a good defense, at least were my time is involved).

Yeah, you're almost there! As for Valak Mountain, that place at night was one of my favorite areas. So cool.

I mostly used Shulk, Reyn and Riki, but I also played nearly the entire game on Casual, and I think I had a better time because of it.

actually, shirtless dunban is best defense anyway. I kept everyone very even levelled. don't remember who i focused on for final battle, but i always rotated anyway (i think seven was probably my most used for end-game stuff though)
