Match 6

The next match up feature songs song by MANY characters. First is @Issun’s Cell Block Tango from the hit musical Chicago. The song features six segments as the women each explain how they ended up in prison… all of which involve men who can’t keep it in their pants… or won’t stop chewing gum. That is, save for one, who seems genuinely innocent. It’s against Holy Musical B@man! from @Purple who with the Batman Rogues singing Rogues We Are, a parody of Batman. Here are the rogues singing about who they are in a parody of various 80s synth pop hits.

Match 7

Then we have usurping Disney villains facing off… sort of. First is @Violentvixen’s choice of Be Prepared, as Scar let’s his army of hyenas in on his plans to take over the Savannah. Interesting fact, Jeremy Irons preforms part of the song but not all of it; Jim Cummings filled in after his baritone gave out (which is more obvious in the end part). It’s against @Purple’s Twisted, a parody of both Wicked and Disney’s Aladdin, about the vizier Ja’far from Aladdin as he explains why he must take over the kingdom… and hey, a cameo from some familiar faces including a sea witch, a lion and a vain hunter!

The Cook County inmates riot against the Arkham Asylum gang while Scar preys on Ja'far.

Match 8

Next, one of my picks step in! The weird film that sort of was a proto-Pixar film, The Brave Little Toaster, has weird dark moments so by the metric of this film Cutting Edge is one of the less dark and foreboding songs, even though it's the only outright villain song as the new tech taunt and bully our appliances heroes with 80s pop synth. They want you to know the heroes time is up. Against it is Attend the Tale of Sweeney Todd from @Ixo, the introduction of the tale of a murderous barber seeking revenge. Todd first appeared in a serialized work in the late 1800s called The String of Pearls but it far more well known in later versions, particularly the Sondheim musical from which this tune originates.

Match 9

Next, @Exposition Owl has Sympathy for the Devil by the Rolling Stones. A rock classic, Jagger said he got the idea from expanding on the works of Baudelaire, the novel The Master and Margarita and the song writing style and sound of Bob Dylan. Against it is @Peklo's choice of Idola Deus -The Creator- from the bullet hell game Wily Beast and Weakest Creature. It's the theme for the final boss of the game and is the theme for the dark god Keiki Haniyasushin who plans to wipe you out and rebuild you as an "idol" under her control.

Match 10

OK, now we have @WildcatJF ’s choice of Your Like from River City Girls 2, the theme for Tsuiko, the sinister influencer and one of the game’s bosses. The song is by Megan McDuffie and Tsuiko is a villain who will do anything to expand her empire. Against it is @Ixo ’s pick of the country classic Folsom Prison Blues, where an unnamed inmate wishes to be free and reflects on the crimes he did to bring him there. The first version was in 1953 but the more famous one is from Johnny Cash’s concert in the actual Folsom prison for the inmates.

Your Like - Tsuiko

Match 11

@SpoonyBard asks “won’t someone please think of the children…’s programming” and nominates “We Are Number One” the memed and memorable ska song by Robby Rotten from the bizarre pro-health kids show Lazytown. Can’t deny, it’s a song that will get stuck in your head. It’s up against @Peklo ’s pick of Necromantic, the theme of the jiang shi controlling wicked hermit Seiga Kaku‎ in the bullet hell game Ten Desires.

We Are Number One - Robbie Rotten
