No pretenses today. I'm writing to say that I'm considering calling an early end to this contest. I feel that between losing Finn in the middle of doing this, the long hiatuses, and the way the plot has progressed with an extreme meta slant that I expect NONE of you to comprehend fully, I've hit a point where I'm not getting a lot of engagement in this...which is kind of the point of a forum contest?
I'm also looking at the rest of the year and beyond, and I'm just feeling I need to put this creative energy into other areas soon, and get back to doing "regular" comics with these characters.
I'd be happy to share the final list and the next comics I prepped for last weekend, but I'm definitely of a mood that this was an experiment that didn't quite pan out. Which is a major reason I ran it as a side contest and not a mainline one.
I'll ruminate on this, but please feel free to add thoughts on how this has been going.

Hey, if you're not enjoying yourself, that's fine and well. Personally I didn't vote (it would have been just Chun-Li and Sakura via Pocket/Gem Fighter), so I have little stake I admit.
Is there someone who could pick up the torch and finish? I know we have a lot of fighting game fans.

Asking someone else to finish the list doesn't quite resonate with me. Mainly because I've put so much of...well, me into it. If someone else took over, I think it would be awkward for them to either continue onward with what I've done with my characters/lore OR just strip it out.
Do what ya gotta, for sure, but just as a data point I've still been reading with interest even if I haven't had a ton to say about the last few entries.
And while I can't claim to be *fully* keeping up with all the WildcatJF-verse goings-on, I don't mind the meta-commentary or shenanigans on the side at all, it's a good time.
If it's just not a project that's clicking with you at the moment that's fine, but I'd definitely be interested in seeing the final list if you do decide to set it aside for good. Or just take a break! Whatever works for you.

King was always my go to in Tekken 7 and Tekken Tag 2, which I played almost every day when I was living in Korea. I even got that weird little card so I could customize my character! I love wrestler characters.

02. Asuka Kazama - yeah, she's Tekken's Sakura, but she's cool
03. Talim - acrobatic girl with tonfa is very my style
04. Kuma (Tekken) - why not a bear. secretly also a vote for Panda
05. Voldo - creepy AF, lot of cool concept in this weirdo
06. Lei Wulong - who doesn't want to play as Jackie Chan
07. Yoshimitsu - crazy techno-ninja gets to do all kinds of things in multiple series
08. Hsien-Ko/Lei-Lei - the ghost girl with the most accessories
09. Jin Kazama - the standard protag with a dark side, but didn't show up til game 2
10. Hwoarang - best bud, ambiguous yaoi-fodder, cool taekwondo moves
11. Cervantes de Leon - maybe a ghost, definitely a pirate
12. Seong Mi-na - girl with a naginata is also my style
13. Chun-Li - original token female character still holds up, has fun moves
14. Dhalsim - one of the wildest move-sets of the old school characters
15. Roger (Tekken) - why not a kangaroo
16. Hildegard von Krone - cool knight, sword/spear combo is a lot of fun
17. Haggar - everyone's favorite wrestle-mayor
18. Terry Bogard - buster wolf! Are you alright??
19. Nakoruru - birds are the best accessory
20. May (GG) - just a tiny girl with an anchor that should be 5x her weight

Blanka, Gen-an, Dhalsim, Bonus-Kun: I like freaks and weirdos. Especially if they have a different playstyle (like Dhalsim).
Charlotte: (Not the one with Jonathan.) Classy French fencer lady. One of my favorites from the very first SamSho. I feel like the 2019 game did her a terrible disservice by giving her the sexy Halloween costume version of her classic outfit.
Akuma: I felt I needed some Shoto representation but I felt the others were too generic. I've always thought Akuma had a pretty wicked design and playstyle and I've always enjoyed playing as him so he was an easy pick.
Rose: An interesting character with some unique mechanics that make her fun to play as but challenging. And a classy lady as well.
Shizumaru: A polite young man with an unusual but still deadly weapon - a Japanese umbrella / wagasa.
J. Talbain: A flash-kicking, nunchuck wielding werewolf with command grabs and flying torpedo attacks that surround him in a glowing aura/trail? I'm all for it.
Nicotine Caffeine: Such a crock. When he yells out some of his attack names they are sort of annoying but also somehow delightful at the same time.
