The Shuffledome - Mix and Matches

q 3

here to eat fish and erase the universe
(they/them)
I find both matchups pretty close, but the combined weight of my own nom plus my contrarianism toward CDC recommendations makes me say Mask up against the Bug.

I will always love Iggy for being a huge influence on 7 Year Bitch, but I can't vote for him over that bluesy as Hell Beatles track.

Johnny Cash owned Hurt so hard that Trent Reznor said it was his now. However, One was designed so specifically around Bono's voice that hearing Johnny do it just feels off. Meanwhile, 90s alt-rock is extremely my jam, so Imma go with Veruca Salt.

Fun Fact: Nina Gordon went solo after this album. To say she went in a different direction musically is an understatement:

Winners of the last two rounds are The Cardiacs, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash and in a match that was actually closer than expected, The Beatles.

MightyBlue, by way of Masayoshi Soken, pleads "Don't Be Afraid" while Kirin wants you to stress eat with Alex Seropian and become a "Fat Man"

Issun wants to finally be able to bankroll that musical about the J. Geils Band. YEE HAA! J. GIELS! via "Centerfold" while @4-So wants to give us a cover of an unofficial sequel in "Major Tom (Coming Home)" by Face to Face.

You got abouts 24 hours for this one! Bring it!

That's a nice FF8 arrangement, but I gotta let me Marathon nostalgia shine through. And while J Giels is always a bop, that song is a little gross toward women, and I'm a sucker for any version of any song about the Major, so Fat Man Coming Home it is.

Don't be Afraid as FXIV makes it to the next round while Major Tom sticks the landing.

NEXT

Match 9
Its romance vs. lust as we start today with my "My Favorite Kiss" by Frank Black and the Catholics as chosen by me against "Hot Blooded" by Foreigner as chosen by Torzelbaum

Match 10
Then its high fantasy video games vs magical girl anime, ya'll goddamned nerds, as the theme to Skyrim by Jeremy Soule (Octopus Prime) goes against Asami Tachibana's "Precure Star Twinkle Imagination!" (q 3)

Hot Blooded burns into the first round while Skyrim grinds out a victory.

Match 11
This'll be a tough one next as the competitor will have to ford a "Big River" by the Highwaymen (Falselogic) but if anyone can do it, it's "The Tallest Man, the Broadest Shoulders" by Sufjan Stevens (MCBanjoMike, who should have provided links...)

Match 12
Then we have what I feel is so far the most goddamned glorious ostentatious match up! A over-the-top classic vs. an over-the-top space opera as music! Lincolnlc Vs. Octopus Prime! It's "Bicycle Race" by Queen vs. "Into the Terror-Vortex of Kor Viliath" by Gloryhammer!

24 hours, people!

The final video there is somehow already broken (from here anyway) even though you just posted this 7 minutes ago...

Edit: looks like the copy at this ID from the same channel works: N7R1fS2KWPQ
