Literally nothing from the comics Matters. You can totally name the PARTYBOI WHO'S DAD DIES "Damian Thomas Wayne" and make the exact same show.
Unless.
Unless, of course, what you REALLY want to do is introduce Damian Thomas Wayne in the FINAL SHOT of season one, setting up a half-season's worth of "I'M THE REAL HEIR TO THE WAYNE FORTUNE/BATMAN" dicking around.
I get the feeling this is all the old school DC-AVOID-BRAND-CONFUSION-AT-ALL-COSTS-mentality coming back, which is a shame. Batman is Batman again in the movies. There's a Batgirl movie on the horizon so we can't have Babs or Jim Gordon (thus why Two-Face is weirdly playing the role of policeman in this trailer). There's already the Titans show prominently featuring Dick, Jason, and Tim. So naturally if we make a batfam TV show it's gotta include... *checks notes* Harper Row and Joker's Daughter? woof.Too bad Bruce didn't already have a son, adopted or otherwise, who could have been the central pillar of this show.
It's funny you mention this because one of the major casting roles they announced that I didn't include was for a character named "Brody". The actor's background is described as "Born in Melbourne, to first generation Australian-Pakistani/Maltese parents." And it just so happens that there was an issue of Detective Comics that had Damian go by the alias of Brody...Literally nothing from the comics Matters. Which is absolutely what they're hoping to do.
Literally the most CW you could possibly make.
Both hilarious and also horrifying at the same time for the fact that you're probably not far off base. Ruby Rose seriously almost died because CW jank projects are so haphazard and negligent. Also a convenient option if Kid Wayne is injured while filming the first season and has to be replaced. Everybody wins!
Every time the Joker's Daughter appears in anything my dad gets a check, so I can't really complain here.*checks notes* Harper Row and Joker's Daughter? woof.
...I cared about Dr. Fate.I am so excited to be annoyed that other people aren't excited to see JSA dorks on the big screen. That's Atom Smasher. He grows big and sometimes has a mohawk/even dumber name. It's Dr. Fate: he wears a gold helmet and does magic and no one has ever cared about him in any way. He's the best.
...I cared about Dr. Fate.
Is that good or bad?I saw someone on Twitter say that every single shot looked like something the rock demanded be in the movie, and I agree
(I'm also entertained that they're doing a version of the Armageddon 2001 crossover plotline, except they can't use any of the major characters from that because they've already been used by other shows; and the crossovers are limited to one character per episode for budget and covid reasons.)
