Televisiondome Nomination Thread: Priming Time

We are living in the age of the Internet but as a kid, it was all about TV. And like the Internet, it was both our perfect view into society and a perfect vehicle for our evils. Lot of hand wringing about TV and not all unjustified panic. It really did affect our worldview. It also gave us some bops and bangers. After all, film didn't start with sound but TV did and it was quick to understand the power of music. Eventually, we even got a channel for music videos. Many in fact and weirdly not... that interested in music anymore. But whatever. We all have our own favourite jams.

So let's choose some of our favourites and pit them against each other. You can pick up to four pieces of music and/or songs. They can have originated on TV (theme songs, background music, musical numbers), conspicuously used on TV (for example, a TV's theme song, even if it didn't start on TV), be about TV, be a cover of something that originated on TV or could be a version of just a song that aired on TV, like one from Nirvana Unplugged (you don't even have to go iconic). There's very little off limits, in my opinion but let's try our best to stay on topic all the same. there are limits but there's a WIDE swath we can cover! I already have a few but my heart hurts to think about the ones that will get left off.

Anyway, choose some and then we'll pit them against each other, tourney style. But don't feel bad if you don't win, it's just a fun way to share some cool jams.

I'll be taking nominations until April 6th! Then I'll start sometime Easter Weekend. Thanks and good luck to you.

Well dang I somehow always thought that Hendrix did this and Dylan did a cover, I'm glad I learned the correct history!

I mean, it’s totally Hendrix’s song now, and even McCreary’s arrangement of it for BSG couldn’t exist without Hendrix. So if you were wrong before, it was only in the most technical sense.

Dylan even said the song belonged to Jimi after hearing the cover. Much like Trent Reznor conceded Hurt to Johnny Cash.

@WildcatJF Look, I usually don't tell people what to post but this video doesn't have the big finale. I'll put up what you want but... do you want the version with the big finale?
If you can find a better one with the finale, go for it. It was weirdly difficult when I looked, haha.

I was able to find a couple.

This one lacks for video quality but it's got the whole thing. It also has the musical Statler/Waldorf exchange, which I like.

This one, however, is SLIGHTLY briefer but has better video quality.

Here's an audio only one, if you want that option.

Would any of these work for your purposes or do you prefer the clarity of your own choice. Wasn't trying to call your choice out but when the ending didn't happen, I felt like that meme lady freaking out when shapes were put in the wrong holes.

No, some people are just informing me of some changes to their list. You are always free to do that until the deadline. Don;t worry about telling me, I won't gather until then.
