Super Talking Time Bros. 3: Yes! It will happen! And YOU can help! (World 1 Demo! Check original post!)

I spent some time re-working the title screen, and also integrated the pause menu lua to create an actual proper start-up title screen that will appear each time you start the game. You can button-mash through it, and the scenery will change depending on where you left off.

The animation is still a little jank, but hopefully I'll be able to smooth that out in the future.

I've been working on laying the groundwork to start building cutscenes, thanks to some scripts from the SMBX forums to streamline the process, and I think I've devised a way to easily have the cutscenes reflect whichever costumes characters are wearing. Nothing tangible to show yet, but I've gotten a lot of the tedious behind the scenes scripting and spriting done.

Just put together a cutscene for the end of world 1. It pretty heavily references the SMW end of world scenes, it's probably the only one that'll be like that.

Spent some time working on the pause menu some more and I've successfully added an option to change character costumes on the fly. Since character costumes are reflected in cutscenes I really wanted to get this done.

I spent well over a week working on this one scene but it was worth it. The intro cutscene is finally done! (Notwithstanding changes that will no doubt need to be made, anyway.)

This has honestly been one of the things that has gnawed at me for awhile now. I just haven't been able to create an intro I really liked until I sat down and learned MDA's cutsceneHelper and created a costume system. And even then, this took a lot of work and time to get right. Still, I'm pretty happy with it.

Thanks for the positive comments, even small ones are encouraging. The project is at the point where there's just a lot of back-end things to do and it ain't easy or glamorous but it's coming together slowly.

Had a bit of a roadblock lately. Shortly after finishing the intro cutscene I did a dumb and accidentally overwrote the episode's main lua file with another one and lost some of the work with it completely. It wasn't the end of the world and I was able to re-do everything that was lost but it took the wind out of my sails for a few days.

Right now what I'm working on is the shop system. Nothing to preview yet. I'm using another lua created by a SMBX forum user for it but in order to do so I'll need to do some tweaking to our OdysseyCoins lua the episode uses, if not outright replace it entirely. It'd be easier to re-create what the OdysseyCoins lua does than create a new shop system whole cloth, at least.

The shop NPC will be Floyd from the Super Mario Adventures comics.

Sorry to update a thread that had its last update two years ago. I saw this video on Youtube and it reminded me that at one point TT made mario levels.

This SMBR looks like it has a pretty impressive built in level editor.
