After forgetting about the show after the first three episodes, I'm now watching the whole season. Just got to that Borg episode, that was fun. Unsurprising, as the whole show is a lot of fun, and having hologram Janeway here is great. It does feel a bit...dunno, toned down is the wrong term, I think, as it is still high quality. But stuff like how the Borg were defeated, as thematically sound as it is, felt very much like a kids show. Which is fine, kids shows can be very fun, like this one is.

Not much else to say, I'm enjoying myself. I think my favourite episode was the one with the time anomaly. At first I thought it might be an extra hard test from Janeway. Oh, the Kobayashi Maru episode was also pretty great. That was a pretty great crew, even though Odo makes no sense on the bridge (in a very early DS9 episode, he depends on Quark, because he doesn't know how to control a ship), but, aside from him maybe learning something about it, it'as not like it matters. Disagree with the Doctor, though, I think that should be the Doctor from Voyager (sorry Crusher, he is the greatest). And I feel like Kira should be on there, even though I get why they took Spock.

I mean, this is just pedantic nonsense, but thinking about a best crew, where you take members from different shows, is a fun exercise.

Anyway, fun show, looking forward to the rest. What a great time to be a Star Trek fan. Best times since the 90s. Maybe better? The 90s had no Lower Decks.

Bad news, nobody! Star Trek: Prodigy has been cancelled on Paramount Plus and will vanish from the service soon. Evidently, the next season will air elsewhere, although where has yet to be determined.

Oh PHEW, what I read is that it was going to disappear from the world and the second season never seen, HBO-style. I can deal with the second season being the last as long as we get to see it.

Star Trek Prodigy is moving to Netflix!

It's kind of weird that after Paramount went so hard in making their own dang streaming service to complete with services like Netflix a series they made for said service and ultimately axed for a tax write-off ends up there.

But hey, I'm just happy to see it.

Better than nothing. Hopefully Netflix likes what they see and order more seasons.

Also, the plans was never a tax write-off - that was only ever speculation. From the very beginning when it was pulled and discussed, it was discussed as "finding a new home". If they were going the tax write-off route, in order to get the write-off you have to never let it see the light of day again. By all accounts, the show was actually successful for them from a ratings perspective; this feels more like CBS/Paramount testing the waters of divesting from streaming themselves and turning into a content-studio that makes money licensing out to others.

Here's hoping they show off some new footage at NYCC this weekend.

Also, Prodigy S2 won't air until sometime in 2024. So after this current season of Lower Decks, we're headed straight for a doldrums for the franchise. With the actors strike ongoing, I doubt any of the other shows even see the light of day in 2024. Maaaaybe Disco can, but that really depends on how much they still need to do regarding reshoots for the series finale.
