Well, the previous two lists are wrapped up, high time to see if we can get another one going without too long a gap. We've done plenty of lists covering various animals - Dinosaurs, Mythical Creatures, most of the Monsters and Pokemon, obviously the just-wrapped Sidekicks, and of course dozens of lists focusing on human subjects. And we've done some that are mostly Mineral in nature, like Robots, Toys, Mecha, Office Supplies, and kinda all the Video Games. But we've hardly touched on the last of the big twenty-questions categories: Plants!

So anyway we're gonna do that, and because we've hardly touched on them at all, we're gonna throw this open to all plants rather than doing anything specific. This means you can nominate entire species of plants, but also particular individual notable plants. Likewise, you can nominate real-world plants but you can also nominate fictional plants from any sort of media. Really, anything goes. Fruit or veggie you like to eat? Cool. Video game plant that kills you a lot? Great. Some plant species you just think looks awesome? Send it in!
What is a plant? As always, the final answer is use your judgement. If it seems like it's a plant, or almost entirely a plant, or made of (alive) plants, cool. Note I put that "alive" in there because I don't think we want to go as far as including things made of wood or paper or other plant *products*. We want stuff that's living or at least recently living. Also, perhaps controversial, but I think I want to allow mushrooms, fungus, etc. Yes, Fungi is a different Linnaean kingdom from Plantae, but we're going with the older Animal/Mineral/Vegetable classes here and 'shrooms definitely fall in the latter there. Likewise for algae.

Also! In the spirit of mixing things up, I think I'm going to pre-emptively disqualify one particular plant, a certain Mean Green Mother from Outer Space, on account of it's already won both a Top 50 (Puppets) and a Thunderdone (Villain themes). I'll probably slip them in an honorary entry anyway, feel free to note if you would have voted for them, but don't include them on your list of 25, thanks!
Okay, so. I think that covers the broad strokes. The usual Top50 format applies - PM me a list of your favorite 25 plants, most-favorite at the top if you please. I know it's the holidays and some folks may still be traveling for New Year's or whatever, so to give people a bit of time to recover I'm gonna set the deadline at January 12th. Please try to have your lists in by the end of that Friday and I'll see if I can snag some time to tabulate over the weekend and get this thing rolling before we're too far into 2024.
