I've been pushing relatively slowly through this. I just beat the story mission with the fight against Master Kohga - which was fun, can't wait to play as him, I think. I've unlocked the Great Fairies and Monk Maz Koshia recently too.
I'm still figuring out exact details of how each character plays - feels like there's an area of playstyle that I'm not sure is finesse or janky - like the ZR special for the Fairies, what each of them does, how to control which ones come out when you use it.
My Zelda is a beast, mostly just because I got extremely lucky with a 3rd-tier-weapon from a chest and a high-fusion-exp part to crank it to ridiculous attack levels (70, whereas my Master Sword is currently "only" at 57) (not including the +5s to each). But it seems like there's more room to do crazy stuff - someone upthread mentioned getting a crate from her normal attack, loading it with magnesis, and firing it with an early activation? I have a lot of learning to do. Still not quite sure what's up with Monk Maz Koshia's getting big, besides "he get big, hit thing". I wonder if the food that increases Sheikah Slate damage increases all her attacks? Anyway, I like playing as her because I like focusing on her as the main character of this game, with Link and Terrako as C-3PO and R2D2, just tagging along as audience POVs. More main character Zelda please, Nintendo!
Link is really straightforward and powerful, so I use him when I just need to wail on people. I'm iffy on Urbosa's recharge timing but it's fun when I get it. Revali is neat but I find it aggravating to have to keep jumping back into the air since he seems so much more powerful there (especially when I use the combo that lands me on the ground). Daruk is neat, I need to learn to use his shield more but other than that he doesn't seem too deep - maybe there's something about his magma pillars people do crazy stuff with? And Mipha is fun too; I don't use her fountains probably to their fullest potential, but they're not too extremely finnicky so I don't feel like I'm missing out on stuff. Hestu isn't mechanically my favorite, though they're perfectly fine and fun enough to play, but they are my actual favorite because, I mean, come on.
Hit a point where I'm behind a level curve, so I might have to grind with some characters, and needing more lynel and hinox trophies than I have, so I had to grind a bit to unlock the most recent character I did. That part is less attractive to me.
