Opa! Today is National Gyro(s) Day so I was curious to see how you all feel about the Greek version of doner kebab.

This is now also a thread for appreciating al pastor tacosFolks, you should stop conflating gyros and doner as the same thing. They probably both share their origin from a distant past dish, and they're both spicy meat in bread, but so's a taco.
How does one pronounce the word doner?

It's never a bad day to celebrate gyro day.I do like me a nice gyro. I suppose a week late isn't a terrible time to celebrate gyro day.
I think if you ever try to get into Greece you'll find you're on a list for saying thatGreek version of doner kebab.
Gosh, I hope it's not too late for you to get a non-existent refund. Did you have non-existent travel insurance? Then I guess I'll have to cancel my (non-existent) trip to Greece then.
Seriously though, they won't call even call Turkish Delight that (it's Cyprus Delight in Greek Cyprus)
Gyros are incredible, but most places here do donners. Shame as I prefer gyros
I don't know about great gyros, but I had a doner from a stand in Berlin's Kreuzberg neighborhood that I can confidently say is among the best things I've ever eaten. Just packed with interesting flavor and texture.
