NGL, he actually almost sells that with his earnest but deadpan delivery.

(Not that I'm a qualified judge, being An Old, but still.)

Unfortunate doesn't begin to describe...

He says it so authentically that I can't help but feel a bit suspicious

Sorry old dude, "slay" is younger millennial slang (it is wild how millennial/z/alpha slang gets mashed together when people start memeifying the whole thing).

"Gen z slang" is the fresh new way to say "this got appropriated/decontextualized from Black culture"

Issun

(He/Him)
Well yeah, the majority of slang is white kids picking up on what their black classmates are saying and stealing it wholesale. Always has been.

Which is why it's amusing/annoying when nowadays so many of them go on social media to call out older generations for cultural appropriation. (Not that it shouldn't be called out but come on.)

African-Americans have built the vast majority of America's culture, yet they get little credit. It's all too cruel.

Issun

Unfortunately, cruelty is baked in to the fabric of the country. I am glad that younger people today are able to learn that early in life. For a lot of us in our 30s and 40s it took way too long to learn just how short of its promise this country has fallen in its 2 1/2 centuries of existence.

Rizz

Let's start this again with a simple one.

Definition: To attract someone, especially romantically. (I guess it can also be used platonically for all the aromantic friends)

The etymology for this is really simple. It's just the middle syllable for Charisma.

But it's looked down with all the other "brainrot" words like Ohio, Skibidi, Fanum, and Gyatt, who all have far more confusing meanings and origins. This one's really simple to use and understand., and I like that.
