Doom Clones, Quake-likes, let's talk First Person Shooters!

You've probably found out about this but the composer of Doom 64 actually did a new soundtrack for the PS1 version of Doom so if you ever choose to revisit the games that might be worth swapping in for the soundtrack.

Interesting! Not sure if I'll ever get into soundtrack replacement for the originals, but I'll at least listen to it!

So Prodeus is finally out on everything.
And if y'all are the sort of person to be reading this thread, you best get yourself moseyin' down Prodeus way

Chasm: The Rift just got a new port/release on Steam & GoG. I remember magazines crowing about this one as a potential Quake Killer, because it looked extremely similar, but you could chop off body parts of enemies (like Soldier of Fortune did a few years later). Never actually played it then, but the time is nigh!

Is this the thread to talk about actual DOOM-related things? I don't know but I finally played MyHouse.WAD tonight and while I didn't finish it, I will say that going in cold is the best way to do it. Just make sure you run myhouse.pk3 and not the actual myhouse.wad in GZDOOM, because apparently the latter doesn't work right and I was totally stymied and thought I was missing what was special about it. In the process I mildly spoiled myself on at least what the conceit was, but it was still pretty effective.

If you really want to know: what if House of Leaves was a DOOM level?

don't go in completely blind, because that's what I did and I finished and exited the level which loaded up The Underhalls at which point I shrugged and confusedly closed the game.

So there is apparently a lot more to this than I thought and the further I've gotten, the more I've looked up just to see a little of what's what, and the path I was taking evidently does not allow you to get the best ending, but I stopped reading when I saw the thing I was missing. I'm not sure how much more time I'll spend with it, but this is the most time I've spent with DOOM II since, uh... 1995 or so, so I guess that's cool?
