Digital Down-Low for 04/01/2021: SLAM DANCE IN THE CYBER-CASTLE

The average person eats 5 video games every year in their sleep.

Don't let the fact that it's downloadable on a Nintendo console fool you, I Saw Black Clouds is not a game, but it IS a Video! It's one of those choose-your-own adventure movies, made popular by Netflix, or... erm... Mr. Payback? Pop yourself some corn and watch a movie about a lady who is ascairt a ghosts and then pick your own movie after that happens.

Narita Boy is this weeks most appealing looking game, as it's a troid-em-up starring some guy lost in TRONLAND by a COMPUTERVIRUS MONSTER! Gain abilities and explore the CYBERLANDS with your TECHNOSWORD and eliver a DIGIBEATDOWN to all the MALWARE and CONSOLE COWBOYS JACKED INTO THE INTERSPACE.

It looks extremely rad, and the fact that "Trontroidvania" has never existed until now kind of baffles me.

Next up to... someone's extreme enthusiasm, I am sure, we have Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue HD featuring who I feel I can safely proclaim to be everyones favorite board-shorts wearing extinct marsupial. Our own Mr. Ixo raved that the game is "[a] fairly serviceable platformer." So there you have it, folks!

SIDEBAR: I did a Wikipedia search to confirm that Tasmanian Tigers were marsupials (they are) and this lead to me reading all about Tasmanian Tigers and getting kind of bummed out. This is why you don't do research, people!

Dungeons & Puzzles is, at last, the intersection of Zelda style DUNGEON PUZZLES and also Sokoban Puzzles that... erm...

Kind of defined every Zelda game since LttP, I guess. But now there's none of that pesky sprawling adventure getting in the way of the sweet, sweet box-pushing ACTION!

A Long Way Down would be the most appealing thing this week if not for Narita Boy, it appears to be something akin to Slay the Spire or Steamworld: Quest EXCEPT it's also got more robust dungeon crawling than occasionally picking an alternate path on your way to a boss monster fight.

It also has a logo where the title is nearly impossible to parse, and I'm glad it was written out plainly in the eShop itself. Kept thinking it was "Onc: Alw Aydown" and let me tell you, that is NOT indictive of the final product!

And that's everything that Tuesday Octo knows about! Who knows what Wisdom Thursday Octo may bring to the table?!?!

Gotta say, this trailer for Narita Boy put in some work to sell me on it.

When the Stallions invaded the Digital Kingdom, the Techno Fathers summoned the Tri Chroma to forge the ultimate weapon -- the Techno Sword

Team 17 is WAY better at making up goofy Tron-esque lore than I am

I remember Ty 1 and 2 being fun on the PS2, for the duration of the rentals at any rate. Pretty sure my PS2 memory card still has a save file on it? I’ll have to check.

Anyway, just imagine Rayman 2 with a lot more Australia.

Don’t play Ty 3.

This weeks arcade game is Haunted Castle, the much beloved Castlevania arcade game.

Actually, that’s my little April Fools joke; it’s not well regarded at all.

HA! Gotcha!

Abd I’m typing on a phone, so I can’t add an appropriate image, so if someone could add a picture of the Lucy Liu Vampire Movie from Futurama, that’d be great
