He was such a treasure. I was always happy to see him commenting on something I was watching. I don't think I knew he commented on baseball though, I've only seen him on basketball. Was that a special onetime thing in the clips?A few days ago, it was announced that Bill Walton died. For those that don't know him, he was a Hall of Fame player. Probably the best college basketball player ever next to Kareem. He got the Trailblazers their only championship in 1977. He was one of the most talented players to have ever graced the sport, and if it wasn't for a series of debilitating injuries (that nearly killed him), he'd easily be seen as a top-10 all timer. He was the prototype of "What if?" in sports of injuries derailing stardom.
Outside of his life as a player though, he turned to commentary and is probably my favorite sports commentator of all time. Man was a master wordsmith, who injected folk philosophy, witticisms, and hippiness into his analysis on a frequent basis.
