Low-key Loki spoiler thread

Up until Owen Wilson brought it up, I honestly believed it was more a very simple case of, "Sylvie has found someone who actually understands and supports her, which is such a momentous change it actually affects the timeline of the universe." And not because that person is a Loki, because they're so drastically different from each other they're effectively different people.

But then Owen became a shipper and ruined the simple explanation with an overwrought, weird one.

I'm really curious how they're gonna tie together the nexus events here and the nexus stuff from Wandavision.

Hey, anybody remember that episode of China, IL from ten years ago where they make robotic clones of everybody, and they're supposed to help out, but nobody gets anything done, because they all get distracted by making out with their robot selves?

Just happened to be something I've always remembered.

I stopped watching 2 minutes into the second episode but a god having a crush on an alternate reality counterpart they just met, (? not watching) played by a different hot actor, simply does not sound scandalous to me. You will have to harder, House of Mouse!

I hope if you are still watching you enjoy the show 🙂😌🙂😌🙂

Yeah I'm honestly not bothered by Loki self-cest at all. They're basically their own people with some stuff in common who bonded through shared trauma, they didn't grow up together, and if you want to get technical about it it's not like they're regular mortals who might worry about mundane things like accidental pregnancy or birth defects. (Well, okay, they're gods from a pantheon, they *might* have monstrous offspring, but that sort of thing just happens around pantheons regardless.)

Oh, and I love the completely bonkers cliffhanger.

Honestly all they did was hold hands and have a very brief moment as they were literally facing down death. The scenario seems very... distant, from incest, to me.

Looking forward to looking back at the great “Is it weird if Loki fucks a girl version of himself?” forum schism of 2021.

One thing to keep in mind is that Loki isn’t Odin or Freyas biological child; he’s a foundling that Odin adopted while fighting in Jotunheim. Chances are pretty good he’s not the only kid who was orphaned in that war;

Sylvies Nexus Event could just be what happened if Odin picked up a completely different kid to raise as his own; outside of a love of scams, she and Loki look and act absolutely nothing alike.

Which would also play in nicely with the fact that the TVA are generally callous and evil, since they aren’t even punishing the right person in her case

It ain't that serious.

That said if a breakdown on why something is actually not *WHATEVER TABOO THIS SHIT FALLS UNDER* requires multiple paragraphs, I feel like you can safely say it MIGHT have benefitted from a rewrite.

I hadn't thought about this and really like this idea. Not necessarily regarding the whole self-love thing, but more the general approach to Variant Lokis.

Loki is inherently a shapeshifting trickster. Like, that's his whole thing. His gender is canonically "fluid". I'm not inclined to favor some complicated backstory of babies swapped in the cradle when the simplest explanation is also the one with the most evidence.

Swapped on the battlefield also makes little to no sense as well just from a logical perspective. The TVA's whole purpose is to root out divergent timelines at their source before they branch off and cause irreparable harm to the One True Timeline. We see them go directly to the source of the divergence and act in an almost panicky haste to set things right ASAP. Why would they travel to years after Odin picked up the wrong Loki, and hit just that Loki, instead of say, go to the actual source of the divergence?

So there's one reality where Odin took pity on a "little baby blue icicle " and adopted him.

And there's another reality where he picked up a lizard.

Why would they travel to years after Odin picked up the wrong Loki, and hit just that Loki, instead of say, go to the actual source of the divergence?

I don't think this is quite as much of a "hard and fast" rule. Otherwise if the divergence point was that Sylvie was conceived a girl, the TVA would have picked up the mother right away.

What I think is more likely, is that Loki - being a shapeshifter - decided "I think I like being a lizard" or "I think I like being a girl" or "I think I like melanin" and decided that's how they were going to mostly present themselves from that point on, and it would be totally in character with the nefarious TVA to decide sorry, only white boy Lokis, this messes with time too much. To me, that's the simplest, most consistent, most in-character explanation that requires the least amount of logical leaps or invention of nonsense to explain what's going on here.

It’s really hard—maybe even impossible—to write a “the past is changing” scenario that doesn’t dissolve into nonsense as soon as you spend two minutes thinking about it. Still, I was assuming that the most extreme variants came from when the TVA first started pruning the wild variety of the multiverse into the single “sacred timeline.”

I love this show. For me it's easily the best of the MCU television shows. It's basically Marvel Doctor Who, which is a brilliant thing to have.

I’m wondering if President Loki was elected President and then pruned, or if he was pruned and then elected Loki President

This show is a hell of a lot more entertaining than Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

I agree, and I was a fan of TFATWS (up until the finale). Loki has just been a lot of fun. It’s my favorite Marvel thing since Endgame.
