This pair here is one you don't want to see. For some reason they always seem to stand(/float) right on top of one another, so when you try to kill one you keep hitting the other. Then the one you were trying to hit is able to attack you easily. It gets annoying really fast. Thus, Splash. Suck water, freaky mask thing!


Anywho, one more circuit around forest and we finally fall down the right hole.


And unlike in the Ruined Factory, when we need to destroy a wall to progress, there's no nearby sign to tell us that. I hope you figured out that these dark walls are destructible, or you'd get stuck here.


And a hop, skip, and jump (or chest, stair, and climbable vine) leads us right to end. But guess who didn't notice the subtle change in palette in this area, and thus didn't properly prepare for the boss? That's right, me!

Geez, sorry. Someone left a whole bunch of holes in the ground and Aera had to fall in every single one!


Huh. So, okay, Gabe said that the summon creature there made it so people would believe him when he said Aera was working with Ryouga to release Goura. Fine so far. Then why the hell does that entail siding with Gedharm, unrepentent Ryouga ally and puppy-kicker who has that very goal?

Yeah okay no reason he couldn't do the same thing again and make Orin believe they're on the same side.

Stupid mind control. But hell, if it's so damn effective, why lure Aera out of the village to use it on the villagers? Why not just sneak in at night or first thing in the morning and get Aera along with everyone else, and make everyone believe that Goura being revived is a good thing? (Because Gedharm is both petty and stupid.)


Hey, that's mean! Or at least petty and stupid.


At least Dinah's got some pattern recognition skills. Except, uh, Gabe wasn't under Gedharm's control, right? He admitted he was doing it of his own free will for selfish reasons.


And if we have to beat him within an inch of his life, well he might have deserved it.

He's largely the same as before, but like everything in this damn forest, juiced up enough to be a real pain. It's possible to break his drill, but that's kind of a pain in the ass even with Arm Breaker. Also, despite the fact that he is clearly wielding an Evil Rotor, he drops a Machinery Scroll instead of a Demon Horn. We'll be able to buy those with fishing points tomorrow anyway, so I just kick his ass normally. Except I end up burning all my Hail Storms, which turns out to not be a good idea. You'll see why in a minute.


Whoa, really? The answer to brainwashing is to beat him up? Seriously? Well, let's go back to town and bring everyone else back to their senses!

OW SHIT OW STOP HITTING ME OW OW OW. What is with this damn forest that everything in here is a giant pain to fight? Yeah, this is why I shouldn't have used all my Hail Storms on Orin. Also note that the Gunner has a "special" where he spits bombs everywhere during which it's impossible to select or cast a spell. You know, like Healing Spell. And he spams it like crazy in the early part of the fight (maybe he only has a limited number). And if you destroy the Gunner, Gedharm just summons another. Stupid summoners. If Yuna could do that, those Seymour fights would have been cake. You'd get another Machinery Scroll if you broke his drill, but this fight is hard enough without trying to do that.

Also, it really didn't help that I was still wearing those DEF boots and thus had a lot less jumping power.


To be fair you came really close there in the middle.

In fact, since he changed what he says when we talk to him, I think we've completed the entire smashing-related sidequest!


Woo! New material! We won't come across any Kishin Horns normally until tomorrow! Unfortunately, since we couldn't turn in the medals while everyone was brainwashed, it's still impossible to make a weapon with it until tomorrow.

Well honestly, with all the stray summons running around helping out, I wouldn't be surprised if the village rethought its policy after this is all over. Dinah, Toumei, and (as far as the village knows) Gabriel are all helping out, putting their lives on the line for the village.


Since it's kind of unclear, she's talking about the villagers not trusting Aera. The thing about summons was some sort of aside. Way to be a jerk, Dinah!


Yes! Even that old granny (not featured in this LP) who says she didn't trust us from the start, even when not under the Gunner's influence. (When she is, she just makes angry emoticon bubbles at us).

Besides, he proved himself more useful than any other character by wresting the Daemon Edges back from the Edge Fence.


The secret sixth weapon type is Poison Candy. We get a shapestone for it by examining the kitchen while Tatiana is cooking.


Also, Moldy Cheese is Dinah's secret attack spell.


Yes, being slapped by moldy cheese/force-fed toxic sweets is just about as bad as trying to kill someone for something they didn't do.


It's hard enough finding a robot who's willing to return his affections without villians running around blowing them all up.

Eh, it's not like she can die. (Since she's a ghost)

I like how people are only showing vague concern over Bruno right now. Everyone seems content to take Ryouga at his word that he won't do anything tonight though he's supposedly the main villian here (regardless of how courteous he's been about everything so far), and I bet they'd all be positively shocked if they wake up tomorrow to find Bruno's pieces strewn across the woodlands.

Man, now we get all interrupted by the screen shaking.


Aera is a little slow on the uptake still. Hey hero, get going! Geez.

Man, Bruno takes orders from Orin now? I thought he was our useless teleporting robot.
