Er, right you are. Don't worry, he can be recruited later. Keep in mind that I HAVE gotten all the stars, but never in a single playthrough, so I'm trying to keep it all straight. I'm sure I hope it'll work out fine.

You could always use this guide. It lists all characters in order of when they can be recruited. I've found it pretty helpful on my replay.
