Is... is this LP back? Or is Nobuyuki just toying with my emotions to fulfill some sort of perverse personal pleasure?

Having just turned in my last paper Inspired by the black/white Final Fantasy LP going on I’ve decided it’s time to bring this one back from the dead. But it’s been quite a while, I think a refresher is needed.
We’ve come across this beautiful White Castle. Formerly home of shit that be freaky. We’re on our way to Two River to forge an alliance against Highland. While dragging Clive’s lazy ass around. Hiro – Hero Nanami - !!!!!!??!??!?!!?! Jowy – Evil? Luca – Evil! Neclord – Doppelganger Rina – Whore Alright, I think that brings us up to speed! Join me next time for the obligatory sewer level! |

You think you can just come back after all this time? Oh no my friend. You have to appease us. From here on out, you must provide a count of Nanami's egregious over punctuation.

Extra long update today as I burn through all the screens I took a few months ago!
Here’s our group for the next segment. I’ve gotta admit that Clive is the only one here I ever use regularly, so let’s see how the rest do. Taking care of a few things in the castle before we go. I’m switching the Double Beat rune over to Clive and start investigating our conversationalist. As soon as we arrive in Two River this adorable little street urchin bumps into me. Completely an accident, I’m sure. Son of a bitch! Bastard stole my wallet! Oh well, let’s just get this over with. Hiro makes it to City Hall without further incident, only to realize that his money isn’t the only thing missing. Fitcher’s letter of introduction is gone too. At least the guards are sympathetic to his misery. Turns out that this isn’t an isolated incident. A race of winged people has settled in Two River and, according to the xenophobic guard, has been responsible for everything wrong with the town. The bottom line is no entrance without those papers, so we’re going to have to track down our thief. The city of Two River sits, surprisingly enough over two rivers. On one side is the human village, and on the other is the Kobold village. Recently a shanty town of winged people have moved in between the two villages. This is where we find Chaco, our thief. Of course Chaco isn’t going to make things easy. As soon as he spots Hiro he flees, forcing us to chase. We finally corner him and ask for the letter back, but it seems like it’s too late. Hiro isn’t happy with this answer, but seems to not realize that people with wings can fly. Chaco taunts us then flies off, putting us back to square one. |

We head back and find a commotion at City Hall. Fitcher is being punished for abandoning his post and claiming to bring back the hero who defeated the Highland Army. Ridley is seen here taking time off from space pirating to pull a stint as the leader of the Kobold Village. Hiro arrives in time. Considering Hiro looks about 12 Ridley is understandably suspicious but is convinced when he spots the magical doodad on his hand. We go inside and find Makai, human leader of Two River, who incidentally seems to constantly smell something funky. Makai wastes no time in getting to the matter at hand. We also get a little background on the winged people. They’ve been recognized as official citizens of Two River but there’s still a lot of mistrust. Official discussions will begin the next day, so Hiro heads back to the inn to rest. These kinds of asides are never good. Never good with directions, Hiro gets lost on the way to his room. And believe me, that’s not easy to do. Fortunately Hans doesn’t seem too upset that we burst into his room and instead tells us his story. Hmm, an armorer looking for a place to set up shop, I wonder if we can help? Hiro agrees to let him set up shop in White Castle on the condition that he never has to look at him. Yeesh. |

039/108 – Hans We’ve tried one door and it wasn’t right, so I guess it’s the next. Chaco’s already there to greet us, determined to be as annoying as possible. He can’t believe Hiro’s the leader of the rebel army (probably because he looks 12) and then flies out. The next morning Hiro awakes in the traditional way. Makai and Ridley are arguing when Hiro arrives. There are rumors going around that the human side of Two River is plotting to turn on the kobolds. Ridley breaks off ties with the human side and storms off, saying he has to prepare for an attack. With Highland on the way Makai wants Hiro to calm Ridley down and bring the kobolds back. We cross the –Bark!- river and find the Kobold village, but we’re blocked at the entrance. We’ll have to –Bark!- find another way in. Leaving the kobold village we bump into Chaco again. And I’m sure you know what that means. Yup. We chase him again and again get him cornered, but this time make sure he can’t fly away. Chaco still manages to get away, leading us into… |

…the obligatory Sewer Level. The sewer is a pretty lengthy dungeon that can be kinda difficult, assuming you’re not sequence breaking. So for us it’s not much of a problem. Enemies include these sharks that can swim through stone (and despite previous reports are not ghosts). And some blue Shadows, seen here pile driving Hiro. They don’t last too long against Oulan. Exploring the dungeon brings us to this room. Hiro knows better than to speak to creepy guys living in the sewer, so we’ll leave him alone for now. Eventually we find a door next to a conveniently placed save point. Inside the path is obstructed, but it’s too dark to see what’s in the way. That doesn’t look good. Despite his non-threatening name the Pest Rat can be a challenge. He attacks twice per turn and has a lot of attacks that hit the entire party, including dropping the ceiling on the party and spreading a green mist. Hiro’s rune is invaluable in this fight since it can heal everyone at once and randomly gives the Berserk status, greatly increasing physical damage. |

Eventually he goes down and we can continue on. Just past the boss we find an exit, but where are we? Guess we’ve made it to the Kobold village. That’s lucky! Fitcher hasn’t heard any news about a treaty. It becomes clear why Ridley has withdrawn support. Hiro thinks something’s suspicious, but Ridley can’t take the chance. We’ll have to return to Makai for now. Back in the human district we find Highland officials meeting with Makai. Kiba is one of Highland’s most respected generals. |

Before they leave Klaus, Kiba’s son, comes to give a message. Looks like Hiro’s becoming famous. Kiba was here to officially propose a peace treaty with Two River. We head back to City Hall to report on the meeting with Ridley. Fitcher realizes what’s happening but Makai isn’t convinced. He’s determined to sign the treaty and won’t be able to assist us. And with Highland stationed outside the city we can’t leave. Another night at the Inn. Fitcher already suspected something was happening and sent a request for reinforcements from Shu. |

While discussing the situation Chaco interrupts. The leader of the winged people wants to meet with us. We go to see her. She first apologizes for Chaco and then asks to see Hiro’s right hand. Genkaku helped settle the winged people in Two River but once his name was dirtied people began to resent them. She asks Hiro to protect Two River and save their new home. We go back to the inn and get some rest. The next day Makai goes to meet the Highland forces to sign the treaty, only to realize too late it’s a ploy. Hiro comes to help but things aren’t looking good. The full Highland force is attacking with only the human soldiers to defend, and Shu’s reinforcements haven’t arrived yet. While we’re talking Highland soldiers take the opportunity to attack. Needless to say, they don’t last very long. |

That’s more like it! Kiba is still confident, thinking the Kobolds have arrived too late. Our reinforcements show up just in time, flanking the Highland forces, along with reinforcements from the Kobold Village to the south. Kiba realizes he’s lost and the Highland forces begin to retreat. The last of the Highland forces leave just as the Kittens Army arrives. Meanwhile we see the repercussions of our last victory. |

Luca orders Solon Jhee executed for his failure to take South Window, then turns his attention to Greenhill. Despite seeing the cost of failure Jowy volunteers for the task. And so Jowy prepares to assault Greenhill. The next day Hiro wakes up in the Inn, having passed out at the end of the battle. He heads to City Hall, where Shu and the others are waiting. Shu’s strategies once again saved the day, along with Ridley’s reputation. |

With Two River free and united again they pledge support to the fight against Highland. 040/108 – Ridley And we get Fitcher too. I’m sure he’ll be useful? 041/108 – Fitcher With that finally finished we can head back to base. Before we can leave we’re stopped again by Chaco, but this time he wants to join. 042/108 – Chaco Before he leaves he also returns our money. Well, most of it. |

All that fighting has made Hiro hungry. If there’s one thing Kobolds are known for it’s their fine cuisine, so he heads over to the Kobold district for a snack. Say, tacos sound pretty good! After eating all of those tacos Hiro’s feeling might toasty, so on the way back to Lakewest he tries to recruit that toasty looking fellow he met earlier. Baths? Hell yeah! 043/108 – Tetsu Alright, so we fought back Highland, saved a city, met some –Bark!- new friends and got a toasty looking guy to make us a bath. I’d say that’s a pretty good trip! Richmond’s investigation should be finished by the time we’re back. We can keep investigating Rina, otherwise I need new party ideas and an investigation target. |

Kobolds are so -bark!- cute <3
This is my first time seeing the Two River sequence since learning what "makai" means, so now I'm really perplexed by that guy's name. (demon world) I love Oulan's critical hit closeups. I vote for her to be in the party whenever there is front row space. And you know you gotta use Chaco. At least until you recruit that child molester guy. |

No! Chaco is such an annoying brat. The only reason to ever have him in the party is to recruit the creepy guy in the sewer, so that his life in White Castle will be as miserable as in Two River. |

Oulan is awesome. Use her, Shiro, Clive, Humphry, and (later) Viki whenever you can.

(For anyone mysteriously reading this thread without being steeped in Suikoden lore, Zexen is the country on the west coast in Suiko3, home of Chris Lightfellow, and the only country in that game that makes extensive use of armor. It actually kind of makes sense that he had to travel this far to find another place that wanted to buy his stuff.) |
