Hey gang, let's play Suikoden!



Suikoden is an early PS1 RPG by Konami. It's about a war between a corrupt imperial army and the ragtag band of rebels that opposes them. I'll be taking the role of young master McDohl as I bring all 108 Stars of Destiny underneath my banner to save the country I call home.

My love of Suikoden is deep, wide and broad. As far as I'm concerned, when you're making a list of great RPG series to have come out of Japan, you basically just write "Final Fantasy", "Dragon Quest" and "Suikoden." And then you cross out "Dragon Quest" and re-write it underneath "Suikoden" where it belongs.

The second post of this topic is going to be an updated master list of which Stars of Destiny I have recruited so far. I'll link back to it often so you guys will have an easier time telling me precisely which ragtag rebels to use in my party as I go through the game. Speaking of which...

This guy needs a name. Suggestions of PANTS or any variant thereof are not eligible because of a reason.

One of the major goals of Suikoden is to gather all 108 Stars of Destiny. Each Star of Destiny is a unique character who becomes a member of your army.

I could make this happen. I'm playing on my PS2, so I can just mail my memory card off to whomever. I've got all the saves backed up on my PS3 anyway so it's not like I'd actually be losing anything.

When I first saw his sprite, I thought his staff was a mop because the bottom of the staff touches the tip of his foot. So, Janitor! Or maybe a janitor's name from somewhere else, like Yani from that episode of Dexter's Lab.

Call him Crono.

I nominate SKUB as a name. However, 'Janitor McDohl' does has a really nice ring to it.

But he has a bandana! Clearly he must be called Serge. After all, we ARE going after a ridiculous number of party members that we will never use.

He should be named . The game gives you that option for a reason.

I'm going to have to agree with this suggestion. You can write it as "Oxtsquastar" in the text.

I keep seeing this in the rare/retro/import store near me, but now I don't need to shell out!

I like Ash, but think it should ASH, y'know all caps.

I admit, my sense of humor can be rather juvenile at times. Seriously though, I got nothing else.

We could combine the two suggestions kaisel just quoted and go with Mash.

Or for another nice M-name, how about Mulder. He wants to believe in destiny?

... Yeah, I dunno.

I want to intentionally avoid M-names. So I countervote them all! Nya!

StarcDohl has its charm, right? Funny characters name but stick star on the front instead of end! :3

MacDaddy McDohl, because he is SUCH a pimp. All the ladies love him, especially the white-hot bundle of sexy named Kasumi.

I second this, just to see what happens in Suiko2. CirclecDohl?

They probably call him "Geno", for short.
