Perseii continues the Sense Ritual:





Jackson could just carefully walk back the way he came timing it so as to avoid the electric charges but there's no fun in that! Instead he'll swing from the stirrup looking piece of rock:



and then from that ledge right above the entrance:



And from there we're back in the Heart Cave. There are no more throbbing sphincters to walk into so it must be time to perform the Heart Ritual:







"Only way out is up!"

Danar uses the grapple to climb up into the chamber above the heart alter:






"Wait, how did you guys even get in here?!"

We left Garcon, and his two favorite people in all the world, in the hear of the Dark One's Cave just moments away of resurrecting the ancient old one:





"I got a bad feeling about this..."





As Perseii intones the last words of the ritual Katrina bursts out in joy:



In the midst of her triumph, something completely unexpected happens?!



Ad Avis that cur of a servant nearly knocks Jackson's platform right out from under him!

"Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal," is what Katrina should have said, instead:



With that she casts her own spell at Ad Avis:



Free from the spells that bound him to Katrina's service he immediately attacks his former master:



This goes back and forth for a bit. Neither one seems to have an advantage over the other.

(Meanwhile Danar is just chilling there with half of his body hanging over the void. No biggie, it's cool)



You all totally say that coming, right?

You all totally see what's coming, right?



Ha! Bet you didn't see that!



The fiend!



Yes, yes love conquers all, blah, blah. Fridge a strong, independent woman in order to motivate the male protagonist...



And with that Seepgood scrambles back atop his perch, filled with the desire to kill Ad Avis but not really having any plan on how to carry that out...



It did that because "magic" now stop asking stupid questions!





"I can't believe that actually worked!?"

Me either Garcon.

With Ad Avis doubled over in laughter Perseii leaps across the gap:



I drives Erana's staff/stake through the bloodthirst curs shrivled, blackened heart!



A quick leap back and:

Holy S&*t!? It's Erana from Quest for Glory 1,2,3, and 4!





And as quickly as she came she is gone and the specter of Azoozl, the Dark One gone with her.

and scene!







I hope he turns out better than the last one...



(How would Boris here know? He was working for the "Dark Master," Katrina!)









I wonder who she's talking about...

In the midst of the adulation and cheering just as Jackson is really getting into the best part of the Hero biz:



"Oh no! Not these two!"







And that's the game folks! Let's check out our final statistics:



That's right! A perfect score! Despite not doing everything there is to do in this game and using some of the magic users solutions to problems! Off the top of my head I can think of at least three things we didn't do: 1) Save the Rusulka, 2) Reunite the shopkeeper and gateman, 3)See all of the dreams in Erana's garden. The first two I don't think we could do if we wanted to, they're limited to Paladins and you have to import your character in as one in order to get that game track.

I'm sure you all might know of some other things I skipped. If so please make sure to mention them.



Of course I grabbed a save! I'm not really a fan of QfG5 but I might get around to it some day or if someone else wants to I'd be happy to forward our hero on to them!

All classes can reunite the shopkeeper and the gatekeeper. It just takes a lot of running back and forth between the two.

Is there a way to meet Erasmus during the course of the game? I know that you hear him at night as a wizard, and I always thought that there was a way to play the wizard's maze minigame in QfG4 (possibly because the manual mentioned it).

I always used magic as a thief, and now I'm thinking if I ever get around to replaying the series, I'll try it magicless. The puzzles are sure a lot easier when all you need is to cast the right spell (usually Fetch or Open).

Just looking at these screenshots caused the music to start playing in my head. For being an early instance of voice acting in games they really did a good job with the it and the music.

Yay! Such a wonderful game and a wonderful series. They just don't make good games like this anymore.

May I say that Katrina is one of my favorite RPG villains? I kind of want to suggest The Top 50 RPG Antagonists just to put her on the list.

One of the redeemable aspects of QfGV is that you get to save her!
