Look, as the sole voice of responsibility in this henhouse, I'm going to have to advise that we take the sensible option here. I mean, come on, let's think about this for a second. This is a pretty major decision.
As such, I'm going to have to place a vote for the rational choice: hell yes do all the magics |

Of course do it. Then we can learn the stuff to protect against magic and do as BEAT commands.

The only way I was able to beat the game was magic so all of the magic. all of it.

To be honest, there's no way training-by-committee is not going to end up with Elodie dying a horrible death, so it hardly matters in terms of how far it'll take us. But we might as well learn magics.
I think my favorite twist in this game occurs on one of the non-magic paths: King Dad Joslyn turns himself into a Lumen to fight the final duel for you when it becomes clear you have no chance at winning. It's also the only time your dad doesn't seem like a total deadbeat. If I thought we had any chance of surviving that long, I'd vote no magic. |

Yes, if we weren't doing this by vote, it would still be entirely winnable.
Economics doesn't really change your odds of winning the game (except in that it is one of many ways to prevent death by chocolate). It can help your odds of victory at sea if you train it early enough and make a lot of other choices just right along the way, but that's staggeringly difficult to pull off, and it's not required to win. |

Sorry, Sol and Mogri. I can't hear you over the sound of Elodie telling the laws of physics to sit down and shut up.
Magic. |

It's not hard to reach: just go through the game without magic, and make sure you lose the naval battle. I told you as soon as I could; not my fault you didn't get here sooner. |

Is it worth learning any of the skills Elodie has already failed?

Excellent question!
...yeah, i didn't say there was an answer. The most accurate answer you could give is "who knows". |

So hey, that thing everybody wanted me to do a year and a half ago - let's go do that!
Lumen! Crystal! Power! +1 Willful +2 Cheerful You feel dizzy, and both larger and lighter than you were before. The crystal has disappeared from view, but you know where it is. Duuuuuude, what a rush... Right. Friend. Anyway, we now have access to the all important Lumen category on the classes menu. Which means we can train up all the magical powers we want! Sense magic allows us to detect magic in the world around us and eventually other Lumens even when they aren't using their powers. Resist magic is our suite of protective spells for defense and deflection. Wield magic lets us fire laser beams from our fingers. Our mood has also gone from Yielding to Angry, Combined with our new Agility outfit, we are now the angriest ballerina in all the land! It also means our skill bonuses have shifted yet again: So, what's the plan Talking Time? Do we wait until we can get some training bonuses on Lumen and train something else in the meantime, or do we charge straight in and start learning magic finally? Also, let me know if you have a preference for what outfit to wear around. Clothes do make the Queen, after all. (Editors note: I'm sorry I let this lie fallow for so long folks. Life got in the way hard over the last year. A very special thanks goes to Lady for hosting images now that Google decided it hates forum linking. Thanks Lady!) |

Chapter 12: UNLIMITED POWER!
You guys want to wield magic? Can't say I blame you, so let's learn to shoot some goddamned lasers.
That's... underwhelming. Let's see if it gets better. Ok. Solar Flare. Not quite lasers but we're progressing at least. Before we can relax for the weekend though, King Dad has a reminder for us: Joslyn: There will be public celebrations for the commoners followed by a grand gala for the nobility Joslyn: As Queen, you would be expected to lead the procession and take part in the ceremonial planting, possibly give a speech. However, since you are not yet crowned, it is not required, and it may not be safe to expose you to the public. Elodie: What do you mean, not safe? Joslyn: Outside of the castle, you are less well protected. If anyone means you harm... Think on it now, decide later. Elodie: Will the Duke of Sedna attend the gala? Joslyn: It is a traditional Novan event. Inviting your fiancee might be seen as a statement. Conversation -> Failed Snap judgement folks - do we want to go to the ball with our fiancee or will he just cramp our style? |

Screw him. The planting ceremony is for Novan eyes only.

It's bad luck to see too much of the bride before the wedding. Also getting assassinated before it too, I hear that is also bad luck

I feel like agreeing to marry somebody and then snubbing him and dancing with somebody else might be the kind of thing people go to war over in anime Westeros.
We should invite him to be safe. I don't think I've ever played this path. |
