There's probably an expansion pack or a mod for that sort of thing, but I don't have it. Save up your LAPs and get a teleporter or food replicator, but not much* in the game is powered by souls.

Oof. Or not. Vixen just can't get a good night's sleep on this cheapo bed.


This means that her mood is suffering enough that her job performance is poor. And that's not good! Trar, by comparison, has a little green arrow near his career icon, indicating that he's slowly building up goodwill where he works.

While at each job, a Sim can choose to simply work like usual, to bust ass for better career advancement but an even more rapidly draining Fun meter, to meet or hang out with their coworkers to develop those relationships, to suck up to the boss to make the best of that relationship, to slack off to keep from losing so much Fun at the cost of job advancement, and sometimes to practice the skill most relevant to that job.


With Trar out of the house for a while before they need to leave for their own jobs, Beat and Wildkin scheme a terrible scheme. (Okay, nothing actually comes of the "mastermind plot" interaction, but each of them has a Wish to befriend the other, and interactions that appeal well to traits bring Sims closer together quickly.)


M'dair, the only one without a day job, instead spends his time honing his household skills. And good for him!


Most of Trar's wishes at this point are to buy things. Get a chessboard, get a telescope, buy something that's at least $100...! He wants so much stuff I have to build an extra room in the house just to hold it all, meaning the house no longer looks like a uterus. Sorry about that.

Suddenly, Opportunities everywhere! In another kind of game, this might be called a Quest instead. An Opportunity is a chance to get a reward -- usually cash or LAPs, but in this case career advancement -- from doing a certain task. In this case, both Vixen and Trar get a book that they need to read before their next shift starts. Beat just needs to stay at work a few hours longer.


And while she isn't very good at her job yet, Vixen makes kind of a lot of money every day.


Beat and Wildkin make rather less. Crime doesn't pay, ya know?


M'dair can make money with his paintings... uh... after he practices a little more.


Speaking of skill development, Wildkin hits the gym again. (I send him out a lot after work, because Kleptomania might trigger and get the house a free item that way.)

M'dair hitting the library doesn't have much of anything to do with anything, but it's a good example of the sort of graphical glitches I run into even though I'm running the game at minimum specs. It takes a while for all those polygon objects to get their textures mapped correctly. Thankfully, this doesn't stop M'dair from reading his book, despite all the pages being a uniform gray; M'dair has picked up the last skill he wants to develop as a Renaissance Sim: Charisma.


Every few days, the bills will come due, draining a little bit of money out of the household accounts. The amount of the bills is based on the household net worth; since conditions still aren't that great, the bills are pretty cheap.


Trar also sent $100 off to his favorite charity, since Good Sims can do that.


It gives Trar a self-satisfied glow, a literal halo above his head, and...





...enough LAPs to buy his first Lifetime Reward! Hooray! Remember, if you decide to buy one of these, I count its cost toward your running total score, so there's no reason not to even in a competitive Let's Play.

Lifetime Rewards are either passive rewards or physical objects your Sim's household can operate (although those are the really expensive ones). At 5000, you can afford these:

Fast Metabolism: The Sim slims down and builds muscle faster from working out.
Speedy Cleaner: The speed at which cleaning tasks are completed is increased.
Discount Diner: Restaurant food is half price.
Professional Slacker: Sims with a day job have an option, by various names, to "take it easy" at work. This doesn't decrease Fun from working, but makes the Sim suck at their job. Professional Slackers can still advance without stressing themselves out too much.
Observant: When the Sim talks to another Sim, the Observer learns three Traits of their new acquaintance right off the bat.
Office Hero: Friendships with coworkers build faster.
Legendary Host: If the Sim throws a party, the people attending will have a good time, guaranteed.
Complimentary Entertainment: Concerts and films at the local theater are free.

There's really not much at this tier to invest in. Since Trar actually has a day job, Professional Slacker might appeal to him. Your call, though.

If at the end of any post I mention that your Sim has amassed enough LAPs to get a Reward you want, let me know and you'll have that Reward.

Just as Good Sims can donate money to charity, Evil Sims occasionally get the urge to give money away to undermine charity. Any good effort on Trar's part is probably outweight by Beat and Wildkin donating twice as much cash to their own nefarious ends.




There's a new computer, so Vixen takes a moment to post in the Pit.



: "Hell of a day today. Did you know some guy got mobbed and honest-to-god lynched in the middle of town yesterday? All the paperwork said his name was Guild."

: "What, seriously?"

: "How did that happen?"

: "Apparently they thought he was caught up in some sort of bad goings-on. For all the paperwork I did on the case today, nobody seemed to actually know what he was suspected of."

: "GUESS WE'LL NEVER KNOW."

After dinner, everyone goes to bed... except the resident skeleman, who has his own ideas about things. Beat heads to the graveyard to shake hands with a ghost.


Only then does he head home on, yes, Vixen's stolen bicycle.


And thus ends the day.

The team plotted things out pretty well, overall, even though as far as I can tell nobody conspired with anyone else to optimize character choices. Four of you have jobs requiring a wide range of skills, and one guy has the time to keep the house in running order and cook meals. That means M'dair gets stuck scrubbing toilets sometimes, but whaddyagonnado?


Beat loved talking to that ghost so much he wants to do it again as soon as he wakes up.


Once they arrive at work, Trar and Vixen reap the rewards of their studies.


M'dair doesn't get much in the way of wishes, but the ones he has tend to be centered on his flirty nature. So he goes out to meet somebody and happens to catch Jamie Jolina near the park. I'm not entirely sure why M'dair thought he needed to hide in the bushes to talk to her, but it may be best not to ask...


Those dudes are totally jealous of M'dair talking to Jamie, and stand and stare for almost a full minute before they walk away.

This is actually my second attempt at this day's events, as the first time I played through the game crashed and all the progress made since the previous night was lost. But that turned out to be much better for Beat! Today he found a wad of cash somebody dropped while unloading fenced goods. In the day that got eaten by the crash, he got arrested instead.




Wildkin and Trar both earn their first promotions! A new rank at work may change your schedule but offers better pay per hour.


What? Why? Do you even think about these things? You're in your field of choice, working your way up to your dream job! Needless to say, I don't accept this Wish.


Look at 'em go!

Okay, so while four people having a day job is a good thing, it doesn't really make for a lot of interesting updates when everyone just goes to work all day. That said...


Beat found a Death Flower in the graveyard tonight. If some sort of accident happens that would kill him, the grim reaper will take the Flower instead of Beat himself. So that's pretty cool.


Beat meets his second ghost friend, then goes home, as before. Can't stay up all night chatting with the restless undead, he's got work in the morning after all!


And that's that for the day.

I made a thread about how mad I am that people steal my bike!

I made a thread about hom much I loved stealing people's bikes, especially Vixen's.

I recently got all the Sims 3 expansions for $30 through a dubious seller. I didn't ask any questions, to ensure I could fall back on the in-good-faith defense. Anyways, things get crazzzzeeeeee when you have all the expansions installed. There's no wackiness like procedurally generated wackiness. Like seeing speed boats driven by ghosts racing by(It's Miami Vice meets Sleepy Hollow!), or a house boat with a horse on the porch drift by.

REALITIES THAT RUN COUNTER TO MY GOALS ARE WIPED FROM EXISTENCE.

Loving the LP so far!

I don't know if any official patch ever fixed this, but when I played a while ago there was a bug that mood modifiers from cheap/expensive beds didn't go away after the moodlet expired, but only when you reloaded the game. If you're playing a few days at a time and you notice someone's mood is turning horrible for no reason, that's probably it.

(Obviously this information should only be used for our sake, not Bronto's or tumblr's.)

Oh, nobody from Tumblr ever applied, which is why there's only one "alternate dimension" link after each update.

Ah, I figured you were condensing the two stories into a permanent archive on Tumblr or something.

I'd sooner leave them in their respective threads, with all the player input and viewer commentary intact. Nothing's permanent, as all the BrontoLPs I've done before the last three will attest.

But of course.

I don't really have any demands for SIM BEAT, but I do wonder if at any point the members of TYRANT HOUSE will interact with the members of BRONTO HOUSE.

Only in a fluff narrative sense. The game handles multiple households in the same instance of town so poorly that it might as well not do it at all.

I've put up a page of all the Lifetime Rewards you can spend your LAPs on. Coordinate with your teammates accordingly (for instance, rewards that give an object like Collection Helper or Food Replicator need only one person on the team to buy them -- anyone can use the object once it's purchased).

I, that is to say, the Gods, are pleased...except for one thing.

This arrangement won't do at all. We need a proper pentagram, here. See, I'm already displaying cooperation. This will surely help BEAT, like the altar that I wish would see more use.

I'd like to go for the professional Slacker Lifetime Rewards as soon as I have the scratch for it. Looks like I'm still a little short.

Vixen is in fact the first one awake, and spends her morning digging in the dirt.


Trar has "better" things to do.


And Wild... man, I don't even know.




I skip the usual plethora of "get up, eat some breakfast, take a shower, have a pee, go to work" stuff that happens every day as soon as everyone's up, so it's probably around lunchtime before M'dair finishes a painting good enough to hang over his bed.


One downside to having all recreational activities in one room is that some are sweatier than others. Wild is taking a mood hit from being disheveled during his long workout, and M'dair is taking a mood hit from smelling Wild.


Once Wild finishes his workout, he stands at the end of the treadmill and glares at it menacingly, wrench in hand. I don't get it either.


After a quick shower to wash off the workout funk, Wild continues his task to make as many items in the house self-cleaning as will take the upgrade.

The sacrificial picnic area now has a place to prepare burnt offerings, and should be functional soon.


Wild finishes a workout by upgrading the plumbing. Beat finishes at workout by going into the cardio area at the gym and dancing.

There's not much to report until nightfall, where Beat's nocturnal lifestyle has him prowling around for foraged goods.


After a few hours of scrounging, Beat returns home to ship off the gems to be professionally cut and the ores to be smelted (thus increasing their sale value, and making some skill challenge progress). The insects will be donated to the Landgraab Science Institute (for a cash bonus). The seeds go to Vixen...


Who is not yet of adequate skill to plant them, but it's not like they go bad.
