Episode 158 Our captains brave a remote Klingon jail in order to rescue a legend. |

I so love that mission. It's so. . . Klingon. First decent pure Klingon mission they've made in years. It felt wrong to play that mission on a Fed or Romulan, and it's tough as nails at the end too. Maybe campy, and Martok sounds a bit, um, off, but then I think most of the voice cast sounds off (their VO director is terrible), but it was still fun and totally worth the effort.
Still not as Klingon as The Gates of Gre'thor (the mission, not the queue) but good enough. |

Episode 160 Our captains take on a true no-win scenario. Yes, I did record this 2 months ago. I meant to process it that night and put it up right away, but stuff for the work trip I went on happened faster then I had expected so it got delayed. Sorry! |

I found the Hurq to be laughable, on Advanced. Never got through my shields, never were a threat to me, and I was left wondering why the NPCs were having such a hard time.

The cinematography of the entire storyline is the best the game has to offer. The opening sequence alone is heads above anything STO has done up to this point.
There are still some bugs with the entire Jem'Hadar stuff (mostly Klink side, but a lot of other stuff), but it's generally quite good. |

I was pretty impressed by your First actually even emoting during the scene where you see the Hur'q for the first time. Him putting the weapon down slightly, looking kind of surprised, and then finding his composure is probably a little out of place for a Jem'Hadar, but also really struck me as an impressive scene. Something Cryptic hasn't really done to date.

That's a great moment too. The whole storyline is filled with that stuff. Hell, they managed to get some of the talking heads to have personality (no spoilers on who).
Presentation wise, this is the best STO has ever done. BTW, look for the best NPC in the game on DS9. You'll know who it is, and no, it's not a named character. |

Likely the best mission of ViL. But also the best example of the issue of the entire storyline: The player character isn't necessary. There's no agency for the player to be involved, they're just there, part of the crowd.
It works okay for a Jem character, but for anyone else it falls apart completely. Even for the Jem, it should be THEIR story, THEIR journey from being basically slaves into being citizens and protagonists, and it doesn't really do that. If you want to see a mini-series quasi sequel to Deep Space Nine, this is your jam, but if you want to be part of the story, a major driver of it, well, um, it's not. Still a fun mission though. |

Take Fed Tutorial script. Replace every instance of "Borg" with "Klingon.' Make some kind of nifty in engine cutscenes, DONE!
Seriously, it so closely follows the 25th century Fed Tutorial it's embarrassing. On the plus side, Tilly is well used and the animation engine they built for the Dominion arc was well used. Would have preferred something more, unique. I suspect, given the timing, they really didn't get lot of time to develop it fully. A full six months would have given us something great. Instead, it's just a rehash. Created a Discovery toon, ran the tutorial, then deleted her. Wasn't worth the effort long term. |
