MADNESS.

I actually haven't seen the second one so I better catch up! I also actually played around in the Flapjack Fields seed sometime after I suggested it but before you played it. I built a little house, left, and came back to find the door broken and a creeper INSIDE THE HOUSE.

So watching your LP has made me want to actually kill the ender dragon for once. I started up a fresh world (not on hardcore) and started gathering resources.

After about three hours I have no deaths, a portal to the nether, a known blaze spawner, a brewing stand, and a couple other luxurious. I have been very lucky with mob spawning and being close to some nice caves. I haven't crafted any iron armor yet, but I suppose that is mostly because I'm not playing on hardcore.

Anyway, have you considered building a nether portal via buckets of lava and a dirt mold? It makes getting there soo much faster and that means you can get potions faster which may help you avoid burning in lava. And really, all you need from the nether are blaze rods for eyes of enders, once you get those you can pretty much just stay above ground searching for surface iron.

Yeah, but if you've seen Flapjack Fields, there really isn't an easy supply of lava for me to fill the mold with. I'd have to run back down to the deep darkness, and at that point, I might as well just mine some obsidian.

Or make your portal at the bottom. You only need to bring one bucket of water with you, and if you don't build a big fort you don't really need to run back and forth much. Plus, after you find the lava and build the portal you can always make a ladder straight up for relatively easy access.

Though I really can't say much, I got my lava from a cave where you can see the lava layer from the surface. It was really easy for me. Seriously, the terrain generation on this seed was super generous.

So... Flapjack Village is in the middle of a jungle, a desert, and a forest? Is that right?

In my version of Flapjack Fields (yes I'm playing the same seed) I saw those same random floaty blocks of sand. But then an Enderman attacked, so I just assumed it was his fault.

Apparently I was wrong!

Reviewing the footage, the Enderman somehow teleported on to the block I was standing on. I thought they wouldn't try to do that.

Sword, item position 1 (or any easily remembered and reached number), always! That way, when you are surprised attack you aren't fumbling for your sword while they kill you. Endermen suck, but if you can get them one at a time you can attack their feet to prevent them from teleporting, and you should be able to hit them before they hit you. Not always, but if you only fight one at a time healing should outpace them and you should win. Though a strategy with that many conditionals shouldn't really be followed for a hardcore run.

Yeah, but I was also trying to get myself back on a pillar to safety.

I know I keep saying this, but the second-best way to fight endermans is to just set the ground around them on fire with flint and steel. They'll just calmly burn to death without going aggro.

The best way to fight them is to set TNT next to them and light it.

The REAL reason he's not playing the song is so that later on he can play it and catch us all by surprise.

Next up is some Real Science. Ladies and gentlemen. I present to you:

BEAT's First Fifteen Minutes in Minecraft.

I stumble over trying to teach him to use the crafting interface, he punches me a few times, meets Larry, and conspires with his skeleton brethren to murder me.

I would like to let you know that you are kind of unhearable, and you should cut that music out if you actually care about anyone hearing you. I also hope you suffered while trying to heard BEAT around.

Smiler understands that trying to give me any sort of guidance in a video game is an exercise in futility

He learned this the hard way.

This was pretty neat! Hopefully I'll be able to play it again in some way that won't chop up every 15 seconds!

I almost want to make it a reality show. Following Beat around and seeing what shakes loose.
