Try carameldansen, dunno if it's the same in vanilla Minecraft, but with the Technic pack it plunks you down right next to a swamp biome on top of a massive cave system.

New actual episode is rendering. I'll be starting the upload in about 20 minutes.
EDIT: Something's gone disgustingly wrong with my internet connection. For some damn reason, my computer is losing internet connectivity with my modem/router, and it only seems to happen when I'm trying to do a "productive" thing. (Productive being subjective, being uploading videos of me screwing around in Minecraft, after all.) Last edited by TirMcDohl; 07-03-2012 at 10:36 PM. |

"Hey, I know! I'll head directly into that cave and fight monsters with a wooden sword and no armor!"
You deserved that one, McDohl. |

On the bright side, I think I now have enough on-camera deaths or highlights to make a more visually interesting and dynamic intro sequence. I'm gonna try and cut something together.

Hey, uh, why not dig a trench for water to flow down the side of the chasm from the nearby lake/ocean? Make getting in and out a cinch.

I was...highly motivated today, Mightyblue. I did a lot more today than I thought I would.
In other news, check this out. I grabbed a few deaths from the archives and made a new intro. Tell me what you guys think! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbgDuenPVr8 |

20 seconds long? Chop that down to four, and you'll be in business.

I love the medley and I'll never get sick of the frantic pig hunt.

As someone who generally watches things long after they are finished and goes through the playlist in a day, a 20 second intro is the most annoying thing ever. Show it in one episode, or as the main video for your channel if minecraft is going to be a thing, and then chop it down to four.

How The hell did you ever sit through cartoons as a kid? Picture the intros to stuff like old-school Looney Toons or even stuff from the 90s like Rocko's Modern Life? You kids and your ADD-riddled consumption of media.
Just kidding, you have a valid point. I'll see about tweaking it. I still like the death montage thing. Maybe we can compromise and trim it down to ten seconds. |

Also, just caught up on episode 19. There were like three times when I thought you were going to jump into lava or fall off the cliff and then you didn't, and I thought "maybe he is getting better at this game" |

I'm on the phone, so I can't easily find a YouTube link, but remember when Dark Helmet captures Princess Vespa outside Yogurt's place?

I don't know why this series is so entertaining to make. Maybe it's because the consequence in normal Minecraft is just "go back to spawn/bed, go on a corpse run". With hardcore mode, each death represents the ultimate setback. The only roguelikes I've really played, as said before, are Shiren and DoomRL. I like Shiren because it's easily interpreted. Game generates a zombie, you see a zombie. While DoomRL uses the ASCII visualization, there's far less to keep track of than, say, Nethack or Dwarf Fortress.
Minecraft as a roguelike is much the same way as Shiren. While the crafting aspect is still sort of unintuitive (on the PC anyway), once you get in to the game, it becomes second nature. What I'd like to see is a roguelike that will be more forgiving in death. Shiren on the DS is a good example, with the rescue code thing. |

Okay, I fooled around with some cheatery (far away from my hardcore save, don't worry), and got some new footage, and made it a little quicker!
I also changed the font to something more pixel-y to keep the same kind of Minecraft vibe. http://youtu.be/9pxdZdPPXDo |

If you're going to have an intro and an outro, why not split your death montage to cover both?

Good idea, but I like the shortened intro better. It will show up in Episode 23.

I don't recognize that pig death, have I missed it or is it spoilers?

It rolls by quickly, but it was back in the Dammit Percy seed, when I starved. What directly killed me was a spider dropping on my head as I was trying to slaughter the pigs.
