We were supposed to head to the break room, so let's do that first.
Another corridor leads to the elevator annex. We won't be taking the elevator for now, since the break room is on this floor. Everyone's here, with the exception of the Captain. Grr! Huey: It's a story about people who lived centuries ago. I really like reading about people like that! They were so adventurous. That's cuz you're a chicken! You'd be too scared to do that stuff yourself. Also you're bad at games, scrub. You ought to explore the ship some. See the world, so to speak. Learn on your own. Kato, can he, you know, actually do anything? Why don't we teach him to make coffee? Cube, come over here. Rachel…knows what she likes? Video games. |

Kirk: Damn straight! It's time for New Experiences. Huey: Hey, not bad! Let's have a little taste. Blech! Man, that's bitter! Stupid robots. Stupid captain. SLAMMO |

I haven't had many pleasant experiences with robots. Whoa, a beard. Huey: We're all fine. Captain: That's good. Kato: Oh, that's my robot! His name's Cube. Captain: Oh, you finished it. I'd love to take a closer look later on. Well, I don't really have anything to report. Sorry for taking your time. That is all Rachel: Ha, you know you like them that way. Kirk: Hahaha, true that. Kato: The Behemoth! Well then, I'll see it after I check the Mother Computer. Uh, hey. |

The twist is that Cube is Space Jesus.

Now that Cube's alone, let's give Kirk's game a shot.
Motherfuckin Mode 7. Captain Square is just a series of battles. Square's moveset is completely unique. Tachyon Sword here heals Captain Square for the damage it deals, and buffs/debuffs speed for him and the target. That area of lava is a problem, since it damages Square as well as enemies. Supernova isn't really worth using. Pure skill. Plasma Ball leaves behind a single yellow tile that deals a lot of damage. k-k-k-kawaiiiiii Pi Meson Shot hits in a vertical area of effect for a lot of damage. It's slow, though. |

These guys aren't too dangerous. The translation patch is by and large pretty good, but I have no idea what's up with "Tope Suicide." Pi Meson Shot finally activates. A lot of Captain Square's attacks take forever to warm up. It's one of the things that makes his section kind of tricky. Another Pi Meson Shot finishes off the rest of them. Doesn't look too threatening. For reasons better left unknown, these puddles of water do a little bit of damage. It can get kind of annoying. Captain Square doesn't even get a chance to move until they've all done their thing. His self-heal, Plasma Charge, is a lot better than Masaru's, at least. It also buffs his IQ, which it's probably safe to assume is tied to most of his move. |

Pi Meson Shot doesn't seem to faze them. Captain Square has lots of stuff he can do, so I've yet to quite get a feel for which are the best. Spinning Star does AOE damage, Space Phage poisons, and Quark Sword just does a lot of damage to one enemy. Your tyranny ends here! Oh. Well. We'll be paying Captain Square another visit later. fuck you fire Next time: This is no time for video games! This is serious! |

I never actually played more than the first level I think. What I was thinking was with all the battles coming up I didn't want to do this too, but it could have been fun.
The behemoth is a cheater! |

Now there's a City of Heroes costume I should've made.

We'll be checking out the cargo bay in a little while.
The south door of the break room leads to another hallway. Huey's Living Module and the Captain's quarters also connect to this hall, but neither of them have given Cube permission to enter. Please enter your name. Kirk sends Cube spinning as he leaves. I've got a job to do in the cockpit. Come along if you want! With her gone Cube can take a look at her personal correspondence. Email 02 Sender: Kirk Thanks for coming. I was really happy. Once we get back to Earth, let's go on a trip somewhere. Kato's also got some diary entries we can read. Month X, Day X I've finished Prototype 01. I ran some structural tests, but… …they turned out less successful than I'd hoped. Month X, Day X I'm gathering data for prototype 02. I've got the walking system done. Month X, Day X I've been building prototype 03. It's going pretty well. Month X, Day X I've finally completed prototype 03. Once I've performed my routine check of the ship, I'll run one last test. Only one more week 'til we're back on Earth… Tomorrow, the other five crew members awaken from cold sleep. I'd really like to get it working before then. So there are a couple of failed Cube prototypes lying around somewhere. |

The sick bay, huh? Let's give it a look. The sick bay is opposite the cold sleep chambers. 281 All personnel entering the medical facility will be sterilized of potentially harmful bacteria here. Huh. It's a telemeter. It runs a checkup on the patient. Hee. Scannin' yo space guts. Huey: Isn't it, though? Kato: Kirk said he didn't want to see it, though. Huey: I guess he just doesn't want to accept that there are other life forms out there… Kato: He's not a bad guy. But I just don't understand him sometimes. |
#76
|
|||
|

Looks like that's where they're keeping the thing. I mean, you and Kirk are basically polar opposites! Huey: … What's this? Bet she tastes like possum-chicken. Huey: Well… Huey: What's the matter? |
#77
|
|||
|
|||
Poke. Yeah, seriously. That thing could eat you. Kato: S-sorry… At least THE BEHEMOTH is probably too big to get into those. Cube certainly isn't, though. There's even a little angry alien face on the door. Let's take the north elevator this time. It doesn't have an energy source attached to it, though. So Kato gave the failed prototypes their own glasses and hat. Maybe he's regretting past fashion decisions? |

Unauthorized entry forbidden. So that's where the hardware stays. Rachel: He said to figure it out and get it working. Well thanks for that. Rachel: Yeah, it's fine. The main and sub-antennae are in completely different locations. There's nothing to worry about. but we can't send them out! Kato: it might as well be totally kaput already. No it isn't. You don't even know what the problem is! Especially since the ship has an intact broadcast (I guess) antenna but none of their transmissions are working anyway. |

Huey: guess we don't have a choice. Will you accompany Kirk outside the ship? Kato: sure thing. Huey: I'll cover the airlock controls. Then I'll return and back you up from here. And we were almost home, too… I was hoping I wouldn't have to be alone with Huey again. Robots understand relationships, right? ……………………………………………………………………….. Rachel: Kirk and Kato are going outside. Captain: ……………………. I understand. Good thinking. Wonder if he's feeling all right? Next time: Problem Solved. |

I gotta say, that alien doesn't look as scary as the xenomorph. Though I guess it's hard to know with just that tiny sprite.

Only just started following this one. Live-A-Live is a favorite of mine, I'm glad it's finally being LPed.
Have you thought about adding music links? The game has a pretty nice soundtrack, it's a shame not to link it to the appropriate scenes. It should all be on youtube, I mean, everything else is. |

The airlock is situated on the first floor, near the cargo bay. That's where Kirk, Kato, and Huey are headed, so let's follow them.
Nyer! Hyer! It's a good thing the 3 foot tall, armless robot is here to break things up. I've got my eye on you! Huey: Stop going off on Cube like that! Kirk: You're a damn coward! Don't you forget! That's why Rachel dumped you! |

Gotta get me that space And they're off. We humans are pretty odd, huh? These humans, sure. Hey wait. Wait. Don't you need someone to operate the controls? I know he said he's support them from the cockpit with Rachel but is that really necessary? Rachel… |

It's probably for the best if we don't fiddle with these. This place could really use some more lighting. Sometimes there just ain't much to say. Rachel: Okay then. How come Cube doesn't get to sit in an awesome automatic moving chair. Kato: Sure thing. Oh. Kirk? Is something wrong? Kirk: D-don't worry, it's nothing. Rachel: Are you all right? Uh… Ugh! |

The ship's peaceful humming is replaced by this track. What happened!? Kato: I'm bringing him back inside! Guess they can return without an airlock operator. I'm going to the airlock to let them in. Or not. Way to go. I'm sure Kirk's fine… Wouldn't you need someone to get sick bay ready? Not that there are any qualified medical practitioners on this ship. Yeesh SCAN COMPLETE: He's asphyxiated you should've known this already. |

Well. Kato: I'll go call him Huey: I double-checked it myself! It's really odd that it would fail… Corporal: Damn straight it is. Unless someone…deliberately sabotaged it…. A huge crash shakes the entire ship. Huey: Wh-what the!? |

Kato: … Huey: Let's check out the source of that explosion. Kato: If anything happens, I'll be in the cockpit. And with that we're given control again. His entire body is a peculiar shade of blue. Special bonus courtesy of a much cooler person than me. Next time: We're Good. Last edited by Epithet; 06-27-2012 at 06:50 PM. |
