You're playing pretty fast and loose with Colm there

No, Sins can't pick locks or steal.
I found that out the hard way. And if we're doing Supports, Ross and Lute is a MUST. |

Ugh, Ross is dumb. LutexArtur all the way across the sky

They can't steal, but they can indeed pick locks. I just plugged in my copy of FE8 for the express purpose of checking this (because it sounded fishy to me), and lo and behold.

The heck?
Well, they can't in FE7 anyways. |
#277
|

|

Can too. It's the same deal there.
They do require a lockpick, unlike Rogues and post FE9 Assassins -- maybe that's your problem? |

...It never occurred to me to give an Assassin a lockpick.

Wait... what...?
I totally remember Matthew becoming completely useless after he promoted. Man, I don't even know anymore. |

The only time to worry about using an Assassin is if you are playing ranked. In FE8 the promotion item is not that expensive for Thieves (10k), but it is stupidly expensive in FE7 (50k). Assassins lose the ability to steal for some odd reason, but do gain that handy Silencer skill, which is an instant kill if it activates. The odds are low though, half your critical rate, so a Killing Edge is a nice investment if you're planning to use an Assassin.

Well, other than the fact that Colm is the only Rogue you can get your entire game, and he is also by far one of the only units in the game I get to level twenty promoted before the end, usually (well, maybe I'm exaggerating that). And he's useful, too!

I'd recommend turning Marisa into an assassin, but that's assuming you're going to use her.
BTW, you should totally use Tana and Cormag...and have them support each other. |

The problem with Assassins is that they're promoted Thieves. In other words, with the sole exception of Jaffar, they have horrendous Strength. Basically, they're Swordmaster lite, only without a Critical boost. Last edited by BlitzBlast; 11-09-2010 at 06:10 PM. |

Oy, forgot Rennac. But superior stats also say hi, from Colm to Rennac with love. He's only good for getting the Member's Card.

Meh, a Rogue's main job is to steal, and I'm pretty sure Rennac's speed is good enough.
Of course, two Rogues are better than one. |

Well, in my personal opinion, you don't need more than one. Usually you only need one to run around and do stuff, and Rennac's stats aren't good enough for him to stand alone as a fighter.

I think you're severely overestimating Sacred Stone's enemies.

Which is why there is no problem with making people Assassins or other less good classes.

If Sins can still pick locks, sure, knock yourself out with them.
Just don't make Joshua or Marisa one. |

Has all the class skills in FE8. FE7 Silencer works at exactly the same rate. Interestingly, bosses have 1/2 the chance to be hit with Silencer (1/4 of critical rate), and the final boss is completely immune. |

Still, half a normal Critical chance is still really bad for odds. |

Yeah, well, they may be able to pick locks, but Assassins don't have cute ponytails.
I think Rogues are kinda awesome though. With their dagger buzzsaw and cocky looking stance. |

Jaffar really ruined all other thieves for me, because I keep hoping they'll be as stupidly broken as him. I finally realized that I actually wanted was Myrmidons and now I use Thieves as little as possible.

Wow, I haven't been here in a while... [One Archive Binge Later]
Since I wasn't here to say'em, I'll say'em now. 1) Ross as Berserker 2) You should use Dozla 3) Lute's stats are so good its awesome 4) You should use Dozla 5) Moulder has a moustache 6) You should use Dozla 7) Marisa -> Assassin 8) You Should use Dozla 9) If you don't use Artur I will stab you with a Wo Dao (Oh wait, wrong game) 10) You should use Dozla 11) And lastly, so ghastly... PONLYTAILZ4EVARYAH Good Day. *_' |

Whuh... whuh? I hope you're not serious. Two berserkers? Much less DOZLA? I'm foaming at the mouth with raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaage. Although those pictures more than make up for that.
In all seriousness, though, Dozla isn't all that good especially if you're using Ross as a berserker. |

But if Ross becomes a Berserker, how will he ever become a man? (NSFW!!)

#299

Exactly. He should be a Warrior, and learn how to make his arrows strike true and hard.
(bonus points if you can make amelia becoming a general into some kind of innuendo) |

Amelia needs to become a General so she can learn to handle long swords.
