WildcatJF's Creative Thread

This month's book post provides a look at the 1933 Don Quixote from the Limited Editions Club, alongside a comparison to the later 1950 LEC and 1951 Heritage Press edition!

For this week's LVLS+ Weekly, I share my excitement about the Taito Egret II Mini, showcase Femtendo 1983-1986, and talk about my new pickups Ys IX and Ask Iwata!

Those are sweet! Were they originally shots of a Figma Samus?
Thank you!! Yes, I have a figma Samus and took photos of it around my house, and then did some heavy digital editing and enhancements to them to make them Metroid-y, haha. Definitely among the cooler mixed media projects I've done.

For this week, I show off my Switch collection, share the Cris Tales Collector's Edition from Modus, and talk about the Switch OLED and the recent additions to the Switch SNES Online app and the service as a whole.

For this week's video, I talk up Metroid's 35th anniversary, LVLS+'s 20th anniversary, and share my experience and pickups from Gamers in Control in Salinas!

For this week, I talk about what I was hyped about from the Indie World presentation on August 11, plus I get into my 11 favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe films/shows!

For this week, I talk about the garbage fire that is Activision Blizzard (content warning), as well as discussing my top 11 SNES games! The link also has a ton of links about the Activision Blizzard lawsuit and the aftermath that followed:

Got some new art done (finally)!

Did some concept work for Shi, last seen here doing a cameo in Issun's Top 50 32/64-bit games list:

For this week, I talk about Arietta of Spirits, the recent Metroid Dread trailer, and begin a series of discussions for September about the arcades! For this episode, I'll focus on Donkey Kong and Zaxxon launching my love for games!

For this week, I share highlights from Sony's 2021 Presentation, discuss my Top 11 Dreamcast games, and get into more arcade personal history with my experiences with Capcom fighters!

Finally got a new comic done!

New webcomic!

Got another comic done this week! Go me :D

Also, here's this week's LVLS+ Weekly:

I'm so happy I'm getting weekly comics going :)

This month's book post is the lovely edition of Green Grows the Lilacs, the play that inspired the musical Oklahoma! Starring the talents of noted American painter and muralist Thomas Hart Benton!

For this week, I talk about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and its impact now that the DLC is all known, look over the Splatoon 3 footage from the Direct, and show off the Metroid Dread Special Edition and amiibo along with Limited Run and Natsume's Shadow of the Ninja rerelease!

Now that the DLC is done, how did Smash Ultimate stack up on diversity? I take a look:

One possible tiny nitpick, though I wouldn't be surprised if you've already looked into it more deeply than I have - I thought Kirby was one of those cases where US manuals have long used male pronouns for convenience, but no gender is generally given or implied in the Japanese text. I generally think of Kirby as genderless/genderfluid, especially given the whole absorb/merge with anyone thing.

Kirby is a bit tricky, but I'm going off of NA localization here where Kirby is referred to as male. However, as you note, Kirby is cited as gender neutral in Japan, so I'm going to add a little asterisk with a note about this. Thanks for looking and offering a great insight!

For this week, I share quick thoughts on the Animal Crossing direct and Nintendo’s price hike for the NSO Expansion Pak, discuss Metroid Dread’s excellence (I keep spoilers out as much as I could), and attempt to wrap up my Arcade History (and fail lol) by talking about 10 other great arcade experiences!
