What are you spending your eshop gift cards on?

It's the holidays! I know some of yall are like me, and have gift givers who know you enjoy a video game or two. So naturally they think to get you an eShop gift card.

I just procured one myself from Santa (as well as an extra 256gb of SD card space), but have no idea what I'm gonna spend it on. My natural tendency is to spend it on something digital that I couldnt easily get physically.

What are you spending your eShopbux on? Or what have you purchased recently? What are your favorite buys? Any buyers remorse?

I missed out on Tokyo Mirage Sessions due to not owning a Wii U, and I absolutely adore it after purchasing it earlier this month. It just has so many fun interlocking systems. This is essentially my first Persona game, so I may try one of those next. (Plz no thread derail on whether or not this is a good or bad idea and how close #FE may or may not be to a real Persona game, kthnx)

Give yourself the gift of Luna Nights for the pittance that it goes for. I replayed it on release, and will probably go back to it for different personally-enforced challenge runs.

But Rivals of Aether is mighty tempting

Oh snap, I almost forgot about this one. Your unbridled enthusiasm for this game has me really interested. Easy purchase to make!

Went with immortals myself, mostly because madhair was briefly obsessed with it. Far too chatty but perfectly fine otherwise. Scratches the zeldo itch.

After scrolling through the sales and looking at my wishlist, I settled on Burly Men at Sea and The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa.

I got some eShop funbux as well, so far I finally picked up Hades, and I'm at a loss as to what to spend the rest on. I'd like to get the SaGa collection, but I likely won't have time for it for a bit and the dang thing might go on sale later. There's also the Mega Man Zero/ZX collection which IS currently on sale, but do I hold out in the hope it will be cut even further later?

(of course, having finally gotten Hades and received Age of Calamity for the holidays, the first thing I do with my Switch-playin' time is.... resume my Breath of the Wild playthrough from almost three years ago. Oh SpoonyBrain)

Here's what I bought with my gift cards:

Taiko no Tatsujin Drum n'Fun- Definitely worth the $15 sale price, not the full $50. The motion controls are a bit goofy and too bad the drum controller never came to the US.

Yono and the Celestial Elephants- I've had this on my wishlist for at least a year after a few people on TT said they liked it. I've only played a few minutes of it so no opinions yet.

I'm debating Penny Punching Princess ($10 instead of $40) and Golf Story ($7.50 instead of $15). Anyone have thoughts on those?

These are the "definitely get" eShop games:

Clubhouse Games - so much fun. Also if you have multiple Switches only one person needs a copy of the game to play multiplayer of everything. It's so fun to be able to play Hanafuda together.

Untitled Goose Game- If you havne't played this yet you need to. The 2-player addition is great too.

Gris- Beautiful, haunting game.

Kero Blaster- Took a chance on this one when we did it for a Fun Club and really liked it! I'm not good enough to do the hard mode stuff but still enjoyed myself.

Puzzle Quest- This is on a billion platforms so may not be worth getting, but it fixed the sound bug on the 3DS version.

Collection of Mana- I imported the Japanese version of this when it came out since I figured there was zero chance of it coming to NA. Glad to be wrong.

Trials of Mana- I really like this remake although I think ultimately the SNES version is the one I prefer. If you've never played the original game I'd definitely play this instead of the original, there's a lot of streamlining updates.

Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle- Why is this so fun? This shouldn't be so fun.

And here are my eShop "get them on sale" games:

Cattails, daily quest game where you forage, hunt and fight for territory. The game is frustrating until you level up your skills as it's just too hard to play but then becomes extremely charming.

Windbound, I liked it and had a lot of fun but it needs polish. Get the Halloween DLC weapon, there was no way I could have beaten the game without it.

The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince- very neat art style, the story takes a bit of an unexpected turn which is cool but the actual gameplay gets repetitive.

Golf Story is super worth it.

I converted my Best Buy gift card into a digital eShop code (which I got $7 for thanks to my birthday discount), so for $70 I got:
Hades
Spiritfarer
Timespinner
A Short Hike
Among Us
Wide Ocean Big Jacket
Donut County

The last game I bought on the eshop was Namco Museum Archives Volume 1, solely because it contains that sick demake of Pac-Man Championship Edition. I wanted to be able to play this because it's not the same as Pac-Man CE DX, which is actually Pac-Man CE 2, which unlike CE proper was not designed by Toru Iwatani. I now have the ability to play multiple versions of Pac-Man at will, and I think that this is important.

Axiom Verge (if you don’t have it) is 60% off right now. I haven’t played it (nor bought it ever; shut up I’ve been busy!) so I got it the other night.

My personal policy with these things is to get stuff I’m interested in but wasn’t planning to buy. In this case it was Starlink DLC and Hades. I’m worried I might not like Hades but that’s no great loss if it’s a gift.
