Werner Herzog Is Branching Out

"Oooh, a Werner Herzog documentary I've never seen is on Amazon Prime!"

"Looks interesting, I'll skim the user reviews out of habit even though they have literally never been helpful or informative."

I guess I've got a lot to learn about the history of World War II.

Did... did they accidentally stream something else?

Amazon very frequently has products with mismatched user reviews for some reason. I just thought this was was particularly funny example, starting with a sense that "this feels kind of off" and then reaching a beautifully incongruous climax.

Apparenlty this Werner Herzog doc is paired with the reviews for a children's cartoon called Slug Terra.

Thank you for explaining that. The second review was hurting my brain and horrifying me because I thought they were talking about WWII.

one thing I learned working in e-commerce is that you never assume a product on amazon will have the same ID indefinitely. It's entirely possible that an ID was reused or that an intern has tried to link multiple products but the spreadsheet they were working from got mis-sorted 8D

One option is also fake reviews; Amazon product reviews affect the ranking and ranking affects sales by a significant degree, so reviews are worth gaming.

For some reason, my sleepy brain interpreted this thread title as meaning that Werner Herzog was going to become a tree. Which seemed oddly on brand for him.

To be fair, while I don’t think I’d call him “interesting”, the villain of world war 2 does really stand out

I loved that. And 100% on board for Russian Orthodox church music for skateboarding.

I'm legitimately surprised he doesn't have favourite camera though.

he sounds like the kind of guy whose favorite camera is the one that is at hand, filming right now. Very practical

I'm told there's a saying among photographers: "The best camera is the one you have with you, but the best lens is the one you left at home."
