Vaporwave! It's like nostalgia goggles, but for your ears. Nostalgia headphones? I dunno, we'll workshop it. In the meantime, join me in jazz solo cup patterned hell by starting with some City Pop:

I didn't see this til now! I found pretty quickly that I prefer synthwave and darkwave more, but vaporwave and its cousin, lo-fi hip-hop 24/7 beats to study and relax to, make great background/working music. I sometimes get annoyed at vaporwave for being little more than slapping a filter over another song, but there's some good stuff out there I think. And I have to admit I semi-sincerely semi-ironically love the aesthetic of it all.

I've been listening to this a bit this year. I think Yuko Kanai is probably my favorite at the moment.

What's Gunship considered? I like them!
Synthwave, which I think is what some people use "Outrun" to refer to. A good choice. Which reminds me I should listen to some Gunship.

Other favorites off the top of my head are DEADLIFE and Miami Nights 1984. What else is in my collection here... Fixions, Turboslash, ALEX & Tokyo Rose. Perturbator and Carpenter Brut too, though both trend heavily toward/sit squarely in the Darksynth camp. (DEADLIFE is a bit Darksynth as well, at least depending on the album.)

I just finished playing through Cloudpunk and I think it's soundtrack goes here:

Is it possible to remix Plastic Love and improve on what is already a perfect song? I ask you!!

I don't know! I know it was a popular subject for vaporwave but I've yet to find a version that does anything particularly interesting, they just slow down and fuzz up the song and call it a day (in before jokes about that being all vaporwave is anyway).

I've also seen some good covers, but mostly just singers covering the base song without really changing the style or anything. That's not different, it's just more Plastic Love. Which is fine, because, y'know. It's Plastic Love. BUT STILL.
