Good list. I was really lost as to who would win until the morning of when I was like "Oh, duh."

I'm a basic bitch so I'll highlight who didn't make my list.

4. Dr. John Watson (Sherlock Holmes)
5. Jimmy Olsen (DC Comics)
6. Captain Haddock (Tintin) - I read the whole Tintin series (save the first two books and the unfinished "Alpha-Art") right before the movie (which I really like) and the early Tintins are a little too repetitive. When Haddock arrives, it really gooses up the series and he's a perfect foil to the straight-laced youth, a grumpy drunk who is steadfast in protecting his friends).

8. Milhouse Van Houten (The Simpsons)
9. Pinky (Pinky and the Brain)
10. Robin (Dick Grayson)
11. Waylon Smithers (The Simpsons)
12. Robin (Damian Wayne)
13. Charles Boyle (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) - This feels like a healthier version of a Bart/Milhouse relationship. Jake Peralta loves and respects Charles and is, within reason, supportive. Charles likes being Jake's second because he's the coolest guy but is also never afraid to set him straight when he needs it.
14. Dan Dority (Deadwood) - One of the sadder ones on the list. In most shows, a right hand man killing a dude is par for the course. In Dan's case, it fills him with sadness and trauma.
15. Danny Butterman (Hot Fuzz)
16. Andy Richter (Conan O’Brien) - Funny man. Sadly, he never got as big as a solo player.
17. Arthur (The Tick)
18. Gunter (Adventure Time) - Good penguin
19. Todd Sanchez (Bojack Horseman) - A character who begins as a sidekick and grows beyond his toxic mentor. Which is yet another Aaron Paul character with that arc except this one ends far better for him.

22. Samwise Gamgee (Lord of the Rings)
23. Harley Quinn (DC Comics) - I loved the character in the old days but she's a character who wisely was moved beyond that to be her own character. Though her Batman: TAS appearances are still great. Arlen Sorkin is the best.
24. Romana (Doctor Who) - She and the Doctor have so much chemistry in The City of Death, which was probably helped by the fact that they had an off-screen relationship.
25. R.E.O. Speedwagon (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure) - The least interesting Jojo still had a pretty good sidekick.
