Here's my entries. I somehow almost completely spaced on animal sidekicks from video games (except Lazlo for some reason) so it's almost all TV, animation, and movies here:
*01. Ein (Cowboy Bebop)
02. Gubaba (Macross 7) - just a cute li'l mop rescued by Max from a distant planet
*03. Gromit (Wallace and Gromit)
04. Puppycat (Bee and Puppycat) - not-so-secretly a prince, often has abad attitude but the best nonsense voice
*05. Jiji (Kiki's Delivery Service)
06. Mokona (Magic Knights RayEarth) - requisite fluffy sidekick and quest-giver, might actually be God
*07. Appa (Avatar the Last Airbender)
08. Naga (The Legend of Korra) - a very good snow-boy
09. Lion (Steven Universe) - everyone needs a familiar that's also a warp zone *and* a bag of holding
*10. Hobbes (Calvin and Hobbes)
11. Lazlo (Zelda: Minish Cap) - lotta personality on this hat-bird
*12. K-9 (Doctor Who)
13. Pan (His Dark Materials) - technically the main character's soul, but acts like a sidekick character
14. Ryo-oh-ki (Tenchi Muyo) - the OG adorable fluffball from space
15. Chuchu (Revolutionary Girl Utena) - comic relief monkey. Probably cousins with Data from MML.
*16. Jake the Dog (Adventure Time)
*17. Teto (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind) - just the best "adorable regular animal found along the way"
18. Momo (Avatar the Last Airbender) - *another* comic relief monkey
*19. Iago (Aladdin)
20. Carpet (Aladdin) [It *acts* like an animal...] - the early CG on this was actually pretty cool and expressive
21. Luggage (Discworld) [ditto] - Chomp
*22. Dug (Up)
*23. Toto (The Wizard of Oz)
*24. Cringer/Battlecat (He-Man)
*25. Dog (Duck Hunt) [Actually the Worst animal sidekick]
