The (Stop) Motion Of the Ocean

Isrieri

My father told me this would happen
Please use this thread to post cool and noteworthy stop motion animation.

Technically this first video is *not* stop motion; rather its computer animation done in Blendr. However its so well done and looks so close to the real thing that it really took me aback when I stumbled upon it last week at random. The sound design and voice work impress me still more. It gives off the vibe of an old-school rankin-bass short. I have to assume this was done as a hobby and I'm just like "I dunno if I should be inspired by this to begin working with 3d animation or crestfallen that I can never be this talented."

The second video which *is* stop motion is done by a user named Animist and their work here is maybe the most incredible I've ever seen. Unbelievably fluid and smooth frames which can only be accomplished with a lot of patience and time. In the 'making of' videos you can see how the stands are digitally removed for each frame in order to get the particularly impressive shots. Very meticulous and time consuming work. I highly recommend checking out their catalogue as this is just one gem in a treasure trove of works.
