The Diablo II: Resurrected Thread of your poor, shattered mouse

So this happened:

I've been off Blizzard's games for the past year and change, but goddamn if this might just be what hooks me back in. On top of being released on PC and consoles, as well as having cross-platform playing (could we get that for Diablo III? Maybe? No?) it'll have things like controller support, a shared stash all your characters (of the same classification, ie online or off, ladder or non-ladder) can access, auto-gold pickup and more.

I'm a bit cautious considering how much of a farce Warcraft III Reforged turned out to be, but since this is a different team I'll remain a bit hopeful.

did i do all of that?

I played the absolute heck out of a pirated copy of the first Diablo back in the day, and never quite got around to Diablo II... I'll probably give this a go on Switch assuming it controls well (which it probably will, Diablo is a much simpler game than, say, Baldur's Gate, and that controls well enough).

I kind of wish they'd include the first Diablo, too, but oh well, everyone likes II better anyway.

I'd love to see the first Diablo get a remake. It's much more difficult to play that game today than the second one is...

I wonder if they're gonna rebalance anything. I don't think anything they do will actually get me to bite, but maybe...

I've lost hundreds of hours to Diablo II in the past and I'm excited to lose more.

I have to think they're going to add some kind of respec option. Maybe a service you pay for in a town, or just something in the options that lets you redistribute your skill points rather than locking you into a (potentially bad) build.

I wonder if it will retain the maddening click fest of shared dropped loot.

I fondly remember my time playing a Necromancer and having the game choke and skip frames because there were too many minions on the screen at once for 28.8 modem to handle. I also remember the days when Sorceresses would put up a Hydra, warp to town, activate PvP, and hope the hydras killed people. Early grieffing.

I've put hundreds of hours into DII and DIII. I don't know if I can go back for more.

I'll definitely use this as an excuse to replay! The atmosphere of this game is so so good, so bleak and hopeless. Early seasons of D3 were still the only experience that grabbed me enough to compete in Ladder - I'm not sure that's gonna change with this - but it'd be fun to find some folks to at least try and survive Hell mode with. I'll probably just play a Kick Assassin again though so I'm sorry haha.

Eh? These are also the same people who shoved Warcraft III Remastered out the door too.

This has actually already been added to the original game, way back in Patch 1.13, you get a free respec upon completing the Den of Evil quest per difficulty (so three total), and you can also craft a respec token by combining the rare drop from each Act boss in the Horodric Cube.

Same company yes, same people no. Those folks were pulled off of this project and replaced with the Diablo 4 team with Vicarious Visions as support.
