The Children's Music Thread - All the Young Tunes

Johnny Unusual

(He/Him)
I've been taking care of my sister's kids for five years now but as you might imagine, there is some good kids music out there.

I will always remembering cuddling my scared niece during a thunderstorm while this Mr Rogers album played from my phone. Now she loves thunder because it means "thunder hugees."

Listen to the whole album after a tense day. Either put it on in the background or just veg out to it and meditate on it.

I've also had to listen to a lot of Yo Gabba Gabba and there are a lot of great songs on that one.

I keep meaning to pick up for copies of TMBG's kid's albums to give to my niece and nephew - there's like half a dozen of them now spanning a few age groups and they're good stuff. Here Come the ABCs/123s, Here Comes Science, Bed Bed Bed, No, and... I think I'm forgetting at least one.

The other TMBG kids album is Why?, from a few years ago. As a non-parent I'm curious to hear how those albums actually play to kids, because they've always felt to me like weird gifts for the fans.

My oldest niece (who was 2 at the time of release) was a big fan of Why?, but I doubt her parents have played it for her or her siblings in a while.

Real cute to have a 2-year-old running around going "Did you just eat a napkin/to find out what would hapkin?" though.
