Star Renegades - Darkest Dungeon in Space! Sort of!

Got my first clear on my third run. Started with Aegis, Marksman and Renegade, picked up Valkyrie and then Empath along the way. Empath is pretty rad with her auras and her group shield heal; that's what saved my bacon, was 10-22 shields per turn for everyone. The Marksman taking massive shots at the penultimate boss, or the final Davion boss or the vat even when they were in the back row was good too, the flurry shot on my renegade just couldn't be beat especially with high ranks of bleed on there, empath + aegis is a great stagger combo with valkyrie doing a lot of good work in that realm too... Yeah, it really came together.

Oh, I was on Easy because I'm a little baby who gets frustrated at games easily these days. I'll try normal next time!

I had a juggernaut baby so I think I'll try another run with her and...I guess the archon and saboteur maybe? Nah, there's no damage there... Archon and, oh right, the paragon maybe, see what happens with those. I guess I should look up the class relationship combos needed to unlock more classes, too.

That said, I'm not sure the game will quite hook me for a particularly long tail, mostly because each run ends up being so long. I could see another few runs before I get bored though. I doubt I'll try particularly hard difficulties or challenge modes though.

I played a lot for about a month and then just stopped. As you note, each run being an hour or two instead of the bite-size length of a Hades attempt makes it more annoying to lose when you're pretty far in.

Whoops, Archon + Paragon + Juggernaut was a terrible party because it had no damage to speak of, duh. Died to the first Behemoth. Blegh!

Did anyone here actually try the DLC? I'd love to know if the additions were significant or just felt minor in the end. I don't know if I have it in me to go back to this game after spending so much time with it, especially since I'd have to learn it all over again, but I might make the time if folks say it's worth revisiting.
It's a new act after the previous final boss. IIRC it was two new bosses with no other fights in between, but you do get a sixth party member for them.

I thought it was neat enough, but didn't really feel the need to keep playing after beating them once.

Turns out Paragon + alternate Juggernaut + Commando was a great starting team. Picked up Marksman and Saboteur and pretty much walked right over everyone between me and victory, including the final boss. Probably had some help from good weapons and equipment, too? The juggernaut's AoE was ridiculously powerful, I probably started every single battle with 2 or more enemies with one of those. And even if I didn't really understand all her status effects beyond the basic 3 they still seemed to help.
