My lineup:

A Replay of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

And if there's time:
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
and a replay of Demon's Souls

Crossposting with the Castleween thread encouraged when relevant!

Going full Castlevania as I try to get through all the games I got in that Castlevania collection I bought last Halloween. Right now I'm on part III. Just had a very bro-handshake with Alucard.

Octopus Prime

Mysterious Contraption

Been working my way through Luigis Mansion 3, and been hankerin’ to replay Ghostbusters. Between them and Castlevania, I’m pretty much set

I've been starting out with a Typhon-powers-only run of Prey. It's quite a different experience!

My line up:

Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope
Castlevania: Dracula X
or Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance
Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water
Back 4 Blood

I recently beat Remothered Tormented Fathers. Its a very atmospheric survival horror game in the vein of Clocktower. You mostly run and hide from the enemies instead of fighting them. Sneaking around the mansion is a lot of fun and the sound design is great.

The story unfortunately is way to convoluted for my tastes. There is also one sequence, the wine cellar, that I found harder than the other parts and I almost quit the game. That sequence aside, I think the game is very good.

I'm undecided on if I want to check out the next entry in the series.

I considered picking this up at one point, but I like to do some research on horror games before I buy just to get an idea of what I'd be getting myself into.

I noped out hard when I learned about the crazy murderer who became that way by being forced to be transgender by an abusive father.

Just finished a replay of The Uninvited. Not going for any particular lineup of spooky games, just playing whatever.

To me the convoluted plot and murderer feels like its inspired by Dario Argento films. In some of his movies the plot gets so convoluted or so unbelievable that I cease to care about it. The joy in the film then becomes a pure visceral experience, which is sort of how I enjoyed Remothered Tormented Fathers.

I don't fault the decision not to play the game if the story direction is not for you.

Finished Little Nightmares. I appreciated that this was a game about the scariness of being a child out in the adult world that didn't play the "children are innocent little angels" card.

I started Deadly Premonitions will I stay with it? I don't know. It's more odd than scary so far.

RE2 down. What a ride! Now on to Grim Fandango, which I will probably still be playing on November 1st, appropriately enough.

Finished Alan Wake for the first time. That's an interesting game to play after having already finished Control. I respect just how much it wanted to be Twin Peaks.

I highly recommend Inscrpytion to anyone looking for a good Halloween-adjacent game. It's spooky, clever and full of surprises. Try to avoid any spoilers if you can!

Also! I forgot to mention it at the time, but I played through Werewolf: The Apocalypse: Heart of the Forest: The Game of Many Subtitles earlier this month. It’s sort of an RPG take on a choose your own adventure book with incredibly high production values; you determine your character’s stats by some of the choices you make, and those stats then go on to affect what choices are available to you in the future. The game told a really interesting story that had a lot to say about the power of anger, both for good and for bad, within people’s lives. I’m not especially an activist, but from my perspective as a relative outsider, I thought it had a really thoughtful perspective on activism, too. I feel like I learned some things.

I didn't even realize I was doing this until today, but yesterday I started Bayonetta. She's a witch, it counts

I played a little of Murder House on the PC I’m using. It’s a whole lot to deal with for someone who doesn’t play many scary games. I was playing the Mall part and made good progress until I got stuck behind a chair in the break room. Truly terrifying.

Anyone else play this or any of Puppet Combo’s other games?

I just started Death’s Door the other day. It stars a little crow buddy who’s just trying to get through their day, so 10/10, obviously.
