seaQuest is leaving Peacock in 20 days

Gonna have to pick up the pace if I wanna finish this. I hope I at least get to the alligator episode which so enchanted me when I saw it in a hotel as a child...

Didn’t Peacock, like, just come out? Like several months ago? What kinda chintzy contracts are they signing over there?

I thought I had more time. With every episode I watch, my brain justifies my time spent more and more. This could only grow more rewarding.

Anyway, Criterion Channel also cycles content in and out fairly regularly. This is actually classy. They’re curating an experience. But I do think I will try to just get it done before mid-April if I must.

btw you may not know, but seaQuest DSV takes place more or less now. (its third season seaQuest 2032 takes place sometime in the future, however, so it’s probably a bit more speculative)

The season one credits had scientific advisor Bob Ballard giving science facts. (sometimes dubious, always goofy) Season two got rid of him onscreen and now the cast is stumping for SeaWorld.

I have probably said this somewhere already but between this and the film Orca I just kind of buy prosthetic cetaceans. Whatever. They’re very smooth. Look real enough to me!

S02e08 - plants are eating hunks! New girl “Lonnie henderson” got a plant to eat a hunk in fact. I will never forgive her. Plants look cool. Yes this does appear to be The Ruins... but earlier in time

Two episodes in season two when one of the gang flirts with a youngish woman and that woman turns out to be one of the adult men’s mothers who seems young for sci-fi reasons. (cryogenic freezing/diet pills???) Stephanie Beacham left and seaQuest DSV is like, okay, we’ve cast enough women older than 40. Our work is done!

The series does not have continuity generally but some character was like, “yeah, didn’t we just do this.” Anyway, the second Young Mom’s Australian accent barges in very confusingly at one point and I wondered if it were a plot point that she’s actually Australian. (no)
