RIP Angela Lansbury

Fearful asymmetry

That's a shame. I've liked her in most everything she's been in, but her turn as a duplicitous hag running a phony freak show in The Last Unicorn was the most memorable, simply because it played against her image of a friendly, proper British granny.

Jessica Fletcher is the kind of character that only works because of Lansbury’s performance. The character would be an annoying know-it-all who is super good at everything all the time but Lansbury is just so bursting with charisma that you’re like, yes, she really is that great, why aren’t the police listening to her

She’s also a villain in the original Sweeney Todd and Manchuria Candidate.

I love her for a lot of reasons, one being her staunch support of HIV/AIDs victims even during the worst times in the 80s and 90s. But, my personal favorite is her portrayal of correspondence school witch, Eglantine Price in Bed Knobs and Broomsticks.
