I'm excited! I'm ecstatic to see Peach star in her own game again, and Nintendo isn't being blatantly sexist like with her DS outing. Hoping for a great time!

Yeah I was gonna say, big step up in theming from the “girls are moody” premise of her previous solo appearance.

I never quite got that. The story was that everyone's emotions were out of control... except Peach's.

So much so, in fact, it made Mario, Luigi, and the Toads useless in the face of a Koopa invasion.

By that same reasoning, it feels like you could boil the premise of this game down to "girls like to dress up."

I think a distinction needs to be drawn between the premise and minute-to-minute gameplay of a game, and a story detail that acts as a justification to allow the former to happen. I played Super Princess Peach when it came out, and I sure don't remember anything about Mario, et al being incapacitated by their emotions, but I'll take your word for it that that's stated to be the case somewhere.

What I do remember, and what everyone who played that game remembers, is the other 99.99% of it, which was Peach accomplishing things by alternately sobbing, raging and giggling at the drop of a hat, which is not something you'd ever see Mario (or most any male hero) do. Regardless of whatever flimsy narrative band-aid they slapped over it, the main thrust and take-away of that game was "women are emotional!"

I thought the main takeaway of the game was it telling you to go look for your mom’s vibrator at the end of it.

I mean, it's in the intro after you press start, before you begin playing the game:

I can't speak for anyone else and what they remember, but it seems kind of... selective, to me?

I mean, granted, they never revisited that whole plot with anyone else, so yeah, no Mario or anyone doing it, either. Poor Perry is probably stuck in the trash somewhere, his story never really resolved...

But for what it's worth, a lot (if not most) of the enemies were overcome with one emotion or another, too. That was part of the whole premise shown above.

Bowser even uses it on himself and his Hammer Brother minion:

This is a good'un.

Through the first 3 stages it feels a lot like a Kirby game. Methodical pacing, so far each stage has just been highlighting a role/power. Lotta charm, seems like there was a lot of attention paid to little details.

Any tips for how to hit the ghost knight boss on the second floor in the swordfighter play? I can dodge and that seems to change his direction, but jumping on him hurts me and attempting to hit his unarmored tail just deflects. I found the video below with a vertical dodge then attack but can't seem to do it myself. This game has been really easy until this moment so I feel like I'm missing something obvious.

I should not play video games; they just stress me out. Is there a purpose to sparkle gems? If there is not I wish I could not even see them. If there is, do you really have to replay the entire level to get any you missed?

There's a finicky "parry" system here, and the best advice I can offer is you have to jump at the "right time". Damned if I know exactly WHEN that jump is supposed to be, because I swear it did not work properly when I deliberately waited until the absolute last second, but you basically have to jump when he is charging, and hope the "parry" animation activates.

It's probably not as bad as I am making it sound, I just know I mucked it up a couple of times with no clear explanation as to what went wrong.

That was it, thank you! I've been jumping on him just using the jump button and only parried using attack, it didn't occur to me that jumping could also trigger it. Beat him in one shot after that, thanks!

I needed some to unlock the second floor, but only needed something like half of what I have and I think I've only gotten them all in one level so far. Not very far in the game so can't say if they have more uses later on.

Beat this, I would like to see Peach's laser super sonic version show up in the next Smash please.

Anyway, this was a fun videogame. Not an amazing "you must play it now" game but a fun one. It definitely feels like they're exploring what they can do with her and I hope that continues.

I pray for a Meta Knight solo adventure, hopefully more creative projects with existing IPs get made with the apparent success of this game

It's funny, and kind of sad.

So many side characters and the like could have great games made about them. And in other forms of entertainment, they probably would. You'd get a comic mini-series, possibly expanded into a full series, or a spin-off TV show, or something.

But games? It seems like a rarer thing to me.

Or maybe it's about as common, just in different places? I dunno.
