And we are back. Its been a long time but finally there's an election we can look forward to rather than dread! In case you haven't been paying attention to what this is and you are now interested, here's the skinny: for funsies, we compile lists of our top 50 (though sometimes it could be more or less) favourite things within a single topic and then create a list representing the top picks among us for that topic. But first, we need to choose which topic we want to do. We have five choices and with them five potential hosts. They are...

Top 50 Horror Films - Dracula
Top 50 Office Supplies - Mogri
Top 50 Sci-Fi Books - Positronic Brain
Top 50 Sidekicks - Adrenaline
Top 50 Winter Holiday Music - Johnny Unusual

Here are also some general rules:

1) The vote will go on for four days and (assuming I didn't make any mistakes) you can vote for two topics and can change your votes at any time. If I'm wrong and you can't, drop me a line and I'll personally make a change.
2) If you vote for something PLEASE do so with the intent of participating. I certainly relate to voting for a topic you think is neat but don't feel you could contribute much too. And its fine if you vote and maybe find later you don't have the time. But if you vote for one you might not want to actually contribute to, you might not be alone. We want the winner to have as many contributors as possible, thus making it more fun.
3) Please do not crap on anyone's choices or submissions. Its cool to talk about your preferences and even try to convince people why one choice is good but please don't mock other choices or try to hector people into voting for a specific choice. It just makes a fun thing less fun. However, if you have legitimate concerns about a specific topic, perhaps for reasons someone didn't consider, like sensitivity reasons or a possible problematic nature, don't hesitate.

I think that's it. I hope I'm not forgetting anything.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free do discuss them below.

I recommend bolding the "you can vote for two" bit. Someone is going to miss that and fuck it up. (If they haven't already.)

ETA: Also, I'm bummed there's no Top 50 Roguelikes on the ballot this time. I'm going to keep burning that torch.

BTW, I'm not sure what the specifics of what Dracula wants to do for horror but when I did one of these for another site, in each entry I put in "What its about" (plot) and "What its REALLY about" (themes and such). Obviously all movies have themes and other stuff going on beyond the literal plot, even if it is unintended, but there's something especially about horror that makes it fun to dig into that kind of stuff for me. I mean, do it any way you want to, obviously, but I am hoping we get some of that.

Also, I don't know what Mogri has planned, but I'm really hoping we get crafts with office supplies

Bulgakov

Yes, that Russian author.

This was a very hard vote to cast for me! I am thrilled every single one of these topics will be an interesting list, IMO.

Whoever goes first: I'm hitting #25 next week, so feel free to start whenever you'd like. I'm feeling comfortable doing 3 - 4 a week right now on my contest, so having another running will help me feel less pressure :)

I see how it goes - we defeat you but then you rise again in a different form. And this time it seems that you will be forcing / tricking us into choosing the most powerful allies to fight alongside you. You truly are insidious, Dracula. (But not Insidious because that doesn't have any Dracula in it. At least I think that's the case - I haven't seen any of those movies.)

(I am looking forward to this Top 50.)
